The sunset splashing across the bluffs twn miles to the southeast has to be seen to be believed. The main camping area has a handful of tent pads and plenty of room for RVs and vans, with easy access to a vault toilet, but if it's full up don't despair, the site is enormous and there are dispersed camping spots throughout. I wound up parked just a few dozen yards away from the main parking area, within easy walking distance of the toilet. There are fire rings, but you'll have to bring wood, there's very little to burn out there.

Very fun for rock hounders! Large area with dedicated and disbursed camping available. Pretty cool that there are all types of stones to find, even just laying on the surface - so even amateurs or small children could feel accomplished. Just be mindful it is in the desert, so be wary of scorpions, snakes, bugs, heat, etc.

Loved the tent sites and the covered areas. Enjoyed awesome views in the morning. The drive is much longer than you think it is. Definitely wouldn't work in something like a Prius, we were in a Subaru Forester and still had to drive carefully in some spots. No garbage dump of any kind onsite, we drove ours out to the rest stop along the main highway. Plenty of stones around the camp area if you do... Loved the tent sites and the covered areas. This ended up being a side quest while on our mission. I am very happy that we decided to go check it out. We were able to find a bunch of tiny clear to yellow sunstones on the ground. I found a sliver of a red one. My husband found one that is big enough for me to try and facet as well. It was about an hour and a half from Lakeview, and it was a beautiful drive there and back.

Great place to collect Sunstones. They are on the surface and we found sunstones, big ones on the ground, no digging required. Come prepared as if you were to have to spend a night in your vehicle if something happens. Bring water, canopy, chairs, food, etc... Pack it in & pack it out, leave no trace. You'll have an amazing time by coming prepared. Check weather forecasts as thunderstorms are no joke out here.
