About Barview Jetty County Campground

Campground in Oregon.

Barview Jetty County Campground offers RV travelers a wonderful escape to the Oregon Coast, where rugged natural beauty meets peaceful camping comfort. Located in Tillamook County near the charming town of Garibaldi, this county-operated facility provides an ideal basecamp for exploring one of the Pacific Northwest's most scenic coastal regions.

The campground sits in a prime location for beachcombing, fishing, and wildlife observation. The nearby Barview Jetty is a popular spot for anglers hoping to catch salmon, steelhead, and other Pacific fish species. Even if fishing isn't your passion, the jetty area offers spectacular views and excellent opportunities for photography, especially during golden hour when the light paints the rocky coastline in warm hues. The wide sandy beaches nearby are perfect for walks, shell collecting, and simply breathing in the fresh ocean air that defines the Oregon Coast experience.

What makes this area particularly special is its accessibility to diverse attractions without requiring long drives from your campsite. The Tillamook Creamery, famous for its delicious ice cream and cheese, is just a short distance away and makes for a quintessential Oregon Coast visit. The town of Garibaldi itself offers local shops, restaurants, and a working waterfront with maritime charm. Adventurous travelers will appreciate proximity to Cape Lookout State Park, where hiking trails offer stunning coastal vistas and opportunities to spot sea lions, whales, and other marine wildlife during migration seasons.

The region receives visitors year-round, though summer and early fall offer the most reliable weather for outdoor activities. Birdwatchers should note that this coastal location attracts numerous seabirds and migrating species throughout the year. The calmer bay waters near the campground are also suitable for kayaking and other water sports during warmer months.

This campground serves as an excellent home base for both relaxation-focused travelers and active adventurers. Families appreciate the safe beach access and nearby attractions, while couples seeking romantic getaways find the coastal setting perfectly peaceful. Fishing enthusiasts mark this destination on their maps as a must-visit. Great place to camp close to the beach but with trees for windbreak. Family friendly, clean facilities and pleasant staff. Bring firewood or get it on the way in from roadside service.

I checked in early to site 75, we were the only campers there so we stuck out like a sore thumb to the harassing park staff. We paid our fees, however park staff bothered us constantly about where we parked and drove around in gas golf carts staring at us all day. Seems as if they have a large staff of park hosts/employees, with very little to do. Then 9pm came and the local rednecks came through after park staff had left, I was abruptly hit with the awful smell of lighter fluid and was woke up to 4 loud obnoxious campers dumping an entire bottle of lighter fluid on wet tree limbs. The smell was so terrible it forced us to pack up and leave at 10pm after we had paid big money for this site. Lastly, they put in obnoxiously huge speed bumps throughout the park. If you don’t want to damage your trailer suspension, you’ll need to slow down to 2-3mph. I wouldn’t recommend this campground at all, especially not for families.

The campground was fun. Site was not level but we did ok for 9 day trip. Only issue was last few days of other campers with loud music all day. Should be a noise level requirement for the day as well as the night time quiet hours.

Love this place! The only thing I am sad about was the office didn't have any stickers or patches like other campgrounds around. Would have been nice to be able to grab those for the kiddos in the group!

The tent sites vary in size so it’s worth scouting the sites before booking. We were able to get a site in the middle of July, but we had to book back in may. The entire campground was full at that point. A new change, no more coin operated showers. They include free showers with your site reservation and the water is hot and plentiful. Beach access is easy from nearly anywhere in the park. We brought our dog but had to keep him tied up or on a leash at all times. Some people didn’t adhere to this within their sites, making walks with our dog a bit concerning. Luckily, there is no shortage of walking routes to avoid the known sites that had dogs off leash. There were plenty of birds and squirrels, so keep your food stashed away in coolers or totes. We saw a coyote on Sunday afternoon when people started to leave. It roamed around most Sunday evening but it was scavenging and not a menace to us. This was probably our 8th time staying at Barview campground. We will be back this fall to go crabbing!
