About CAMP SHERMAN CAMPGROUND

Federal campground in Oregon.

Nestled in the scenic Deschutes National Forest, Camp Sherman Campground offers RV travelers an authentic Oregon wilderness experience in a peaceful, forested setting. This national forest campground serves as an ideal base for exploring central Oregon's natural beauty, with convenient access to some of the region's most treasured outdoor destinations.

The campground itself provides a quiet retreat surrounded by towering ponderosa pines and Douglas firs, creating that classic forest camping atmosphere many RV enthusiasts seek. The location along the Deschutes River corridor places you in the heart of some of Oregon's most stunning mountain scenery, where outdoor recreation opportunities are virtually endless. Whether you're an angler, hiker, or simply someone who appreciates pristine natural surroundings, this area delivers on all fronts.

Camp Sherman's location makes it particularly attractive for those interested in exploring the Cascade Range. The nearby town of Camp Sherman itself is a charming small community with local services and supplies, so you can resupply without traveling far from your campsite. The elevation and forest environment keep temperatures comfortable during summer months, making it a preferred destination when lower elevation areas become scorching.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise here. The Deschutes River provides excellent fishing opportunities, with several scenic trails branching out from the campground area for hiking adventures of varying difficulty levels. The region is also close to numerous lakes and scenic viewpoints that showcase Oregon's volcanic landscape and mountain vistas. Photographers and nature lovers particularly appreciate the golden hour light filtering through the forest canopy.

The nearby communities of Bend and Sisters offer cultural attractions, dining, and shopping when you want to venture beyond the campground. However, many visitors find themselves content simply enjoying the peaceful forest environment, reading by the campfire, and taking in the fresh mountain air.

This is an excellent choice for RV travelers seeking a genuine national forest experience with quality hiking, fishing, and scenic beauty, all within a well-established campground setting that caters to recreational vehicles.

Stayed in Site #8, July 9-11. 2020. Great campsite! It was very dusty, but great fire grate, cooked dinner on cast iron griddle. Could easily get 4-5 tents up. Picnic table, close to pit bathroom, cleaned every morning by 9:00. River access is shallow in this area, so great for kids and dogs. First time camping so late in the year, and aside from being cold it was great. Very few other campers. A little concerned letting the dog in the water because of decomposing fish, again just late in the year and after spawning.

Two vault toilets, very calm and quiet place to camp. Fly fishing only on the river. Try to get there early- this place fills up fast! And the other two camp grounds ahead are closed for the season! Also the water is shut off for the season already too.
