About HORSFALL BEACH

Federal campground in Oregon.

Horsfall Beach offers a unique camping experience along Oregon's stunning southern coast, where golden sand dunes meet evergreen forests in perfect harmony. Located in Coos County near the town of Coos Bay, this National Forest campground provides direct access to one of the Pacific Northwest's most dramatic and unspoiled coastal landscapes. The beach itself stretches for miles, offering endless opportunities for exploration, beachcombing, and wildlife observation.

The natural setting here is truly exceptional. Towering Sitka spruce and Douglas fir forests frame the campground, creating a serene backdrop that transitions seamlessly to the open beach. Visitors often spot Roosevelt elk grazing in the nearby meadows, and the tide pools along the shoreline reveal vibrant ecosystems filled with starfish, anemones, and other marine creatures. Photographers and nature enthusiasts find endless inspiration in the dramatic rock formations and sea stacks visible from the beach.

This area of Oregon's coast is less crowded than some of the more famous coastal destinations, making it ideal for travelers seeking a more peaceful, authentic camping experience. The region experiences a temperate climate, with cool summers and mild winters, though visitors should be prepared for the Pacific's coastal weather patterns including fog and occasional rain. The open beach and dunes provide excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation including hiking, beachcombing, and exploring the natural landscape.

Nearby Coos Bay offers convenient access to dining, shopping, and services, just a short drive away. The greater area features numerous coastal attractions and natural wonders within reasonable driving distance. Horsfall Beach appeals to campers seeking solitude in nature, families who want direct beach access for their RV adventure, and anyone wanting to experience the rugged beauty of Oregon's southern coast without the commercialization found elsewhere. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat or an outdoor adventure base, the combination of forest camping and beach access makes this a distinctive Pacific Northwest destination.

Dry camping. Access to the sand dunes and beach. North of this access point is open to driving on the beach. Value toilets and potable water. Fire rings for the back in sites. Lock your stuff up.

Looking at lower lake levels as we wrap up July 2023. A month ago, the quad would have been deep in the water at the same location. Also, overlooking the North Bend Airport, Old Bark Rd Staging and Day Use Area, Horsfall Lake ...

I have come here twice now and I have enjoyed it very much each time. The sand is super soft. Lots of jelly fish on the beach, big ones. Very nice and clean beach.
