About LIMBERLOST CAMPGROUND

Federal campground in Oregon.

Limberlost Campground offers a peaceful retreat nestled within the heart of Oregon's pristine national forest landscape. This national forest campground provides the perfect base camp for travelers seeking authentic outdoor experiences away from crowded, commercial RV parks. The surrounding forests create a serene atmosphere where you can genuinely disconnect and reconnect with nature.

The campground's location in Oregon's national forest system means you're surrounded by some of the Pacific Northwest's most stunning natural beauty. Towering evergreens provide natural shade and windbreaks, creating individual camping spaces that feel secluded despite being part of a larger community of outdoor enthusiasts. The forest environment keeps temperatures moderate and comfortable throughout the camping season, with cool mornings and pleasant afternoons that are ideal for outdoor activities.

What makes camping at Limberlost special is the access it provides to extensive trail systems and natural attractions throughout the national forest. Hikers will find numerous trails ranging from leisurely walks to more challenging backcountry expeditions. The forest landscape supports abundant wildlife viewing opportunities, and the quieter setting appeals to nature photographers and birdwatchers. Mountain biking enthusiasts also appreciate the trail networks accessible from the campground.

The campground serves as an excellent jumping-off point for families seeking adventure, couples looking for peaceful getaways, and solo travelers wanting to explore Oregon's natural wonders. Spring and summer offer the most accessible conditions, though the shoulder seasons provide their own magic with fewer crowds and changing forest colors. The national forest setting means you're away from commercial development, yet still within reasonable driving distance to regional amenities and services.

Whether you're interested in fishing in nearby streams, exploring old-growth forest ecosystems, or simply enjoying quiet evenings under the stars surrounded by towering trees, Limberlost Campground delivers an authentic national forest camping experience. The cooler climate and forest environment make it particularly appealing during Oregon's warmer months when lower elevation areas become too hot for comfortable camping.

Beautiful campground -- was very quiet and peaceful, with about half the sites filled. Some sites are closer to each other than others; they generally feel private, however this would not be the case if the campground were full. Pit toilets were clean, well maintained, and smelled about as good as one could expect.

I cannot honestly rate this campground, as I did not camp. I came to search for a dachshund lost in May 2021, never found it. It wasn't mine, I have a FB group for lost dachshunds and was trying to help. If anyone found one, the owner would just like to know it is loved and safe. Anyway, if I were still a camper, I would give this site a try, but normally prefer more solitude. My camping partner o... I cannot honestly rate this campground, as I did not camp. My camping partner of 39 years passed away in May 2021, so no more camping.

Small campground, 12 sites. Very quiet during a high summer season. Sites 1 and 12 are the best. No water available and no real river access. We were on a road trip and wanted quiet and found it.

The campsite is pretty small, and the sites are packed pretty closely together. But, we grabbed a few sites for a large group along the river and felt like we had plenty of privacy. This was a great basecamp for a weekend full of mountain biking, hiking, and hot springs.

Really nice campground! Vault toilet that smells like a toilet. I was hoping to play in the creek, but it is super swift. It is close to proxy falls which cooled us off (cold snow melt). It sure is beautiful and with all of the trees, we had shade all day!
