About Umpqua Off-Season Campgrounds

Federal campground in Oregon.

Nestled in the heart of Oregon's natural beauty, Umpqua Off-Season Campgrounds offers RV travelers a peaceful retreat into one of the Pacific Northwest's most scenic regions. Located within the Umpqua National Forest, this destination provides an authentic camping experience surrounded by towering Douglas firs, cascading streams, and the kind of quiet that only comes from being immersed in nature.

The campgrounds serve as an ideal base for exploring the diverse attractions that make the Umpqua area so special. The Umpqua River itself is a highlight, known for its excellent steelhead and salmon fishing opportunities that draw anglers from across the country. Even if fishing isn't your focus, the river provides stunning scenery and peaceful places for walks and reflection. The area's network of hiking trails ranges from easy riverside strolls to more challenging backcountry adventures, offering something for every fitness level and interest.

One of the region's crown jewels is nearby Diamond Lake, a pristine alpine lake perfect for boating, swimming, and picnicking during the warmer months. The lake's crystal-clear waters and mountain backdrop create memorable experiences for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Their RV spots are giant, plenty of room for all your toys and vehicles, and during colder, rainier months, we rent their cabins that are nice and cozy, with electric fireplaces that more than heat the cabin, a mini fridge and a microwave, and surprisingly comfortable mats on the beds. Some cabins are even pet friendly. And again, you have plenty of room outside for your vehicles and toys. The bathrooms are also very nice and you have direct dune access here. The view of the water across the way is a nice bonus. There is also a store onsite with food and riding gear and they sell gas too. My only recommendation is avoid the RV spots right along the main road/across from the water, as the wind can be crazy strong and miserable and those spots seem to be hit the hardest.

We stayed five nights in November. Had the place mostly to ourselves. Wonderful clean campground! The bathrooms and showers were great. Nice to ride out of the campground onto the dunes! The hosts were so nice and accommodating.

We stayed in a dry cabin. Lower your expectations a bit and you will have a great time! This is not the four seasons but works great for enjoying the dunes, and fishing nearby. Dry cabins were nice and clean, bathrooms, and showers close by, and grounds are nice! Only 2 cabins are pet friendly, so make sure you’re in the right one with pets allowed.

It's better than tenting. The separate bathrooms weren't very great. The toilet and sink would plugg and overflow every day unfortunate crap all over a handicapped stall. The showers were filthy and never saw them cleaned. They had multiple camp hosts, but they didn't seem to be too concerned about at the bathroom situation.
