About Crater Lake RV Park

Campground in Oregon.

Crater Lake RV Park offers a gateway to one of America's most spectacular natural wonders. Located in southern Oregon near the famous Crater Lake National Park, this RV park provides the perfect base for exploring a region of extraordinary geological significance and breathtaking beauty. The park sits in an area characterized by dense pine forests, volcanic landscapes, and pristine wilderness that attracts nature lovers from around the world.

The primary draw for most visitors is Crater Lake itself, a caldera lake of stunning clarity and vivid blue waters formed by volcanic activity thousands of years ago. The drive around the lake's rim offers numerous pullouts and viewpoints where you can absorb the majesty of this natural phenomenon. On clear days, the contrast between the deep blue water and the surrounding snow-capped peaks creates photo opportunities that rival some of the most celebrated scenic destinations in the country. The lake sits at elevation, which means crisp mountain air and cooler temperatures even during summer months, providing a refreshing escape from heat-plagued regions.

Beyond the lake itself, the surrounding area offers extensive outdoor recreation opportunities. Hiking trails range from easy rim walks to more challenging backcountry adventures. The network of trails in the national park and surrounding national forests provides options for every skill level and fitness commitment. Mountain biking enthusiasts will find excellent trails in the region, while anglers appreciate the fishing opportunities in nearby lakes and streams. Wildlife viewing is abundant, with deer, elk, and various bird species commonly spotted throughout the area.

The park's location also makes it convenient for exploring other regional attractions. The volcanic landscape extends well beyond Crater Lake, with additional points of interest including lava tubes, cinder cones, and geologically fascinating formations. The charming town of Klamath Falls lies within reasonable driving distance, offering dining, shopping, and cultural amenities for when you want to venture from nature.

This destination appeals particularly to photographers, outdoor adventurers, geology enthusiasts, and anyone seeking to experience one of the Pacific Northwest's most iconic natural features. Whether you're planning an extended stay or passing through on a larger road trip, Crater Lake RV Park provides convenient access to an unforgettable landscape.

Though it's an older park, in our opinion it is very much a hidden gem. Crater Lake National Park is a short drive away as well as several waterfalls. The park is on the smaller side with only about 60 sites. A majority of the sites are fairly close together but it doesn't feel like it because the sites are all tucked back in amongst the trees. Several sites are big rig friendly. There is a $1.00... Though it's an older park, in our opinion it is very much a hidden gem. There is a $1.00 a day dog fee which as a dog owner we have no issue with this. However, not sure what this fee covers at this park as there is no dog park or pet waste station (poop bags). We had no T-Mobile service while there. The park has a newly built bathhouse and laundry room. Even with its proximity to Hwy 62 it is a very quiet campground. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a nice and quiet place to unwind this is it!! We would definitely stay there again.

This is definitely a big rig rv park. With our 36ft fifth wheel and our truck in our site there's still room to park another vehicle. Others have reported lack of cell service but our Verizon is very strong, however as you go north towards Crater lake you lose all cell service with 1/2 mile. There's a days worth of sightseeing within 10 miles of the campground - a Natural Bridge (must see), Gorge... This is definitely a big rig rv park. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a warm, well-run RV park near Crater Lake!

These days, campgrounds like to charge hotel prices and capitalize on the “low maintenance”. We’ve stayed at 1 too many tv campgrounds that are poorly maintained, have dirty bathrooms, and customer service is 👎🏻👎🏻. CRATER LAKE RV is not that way. Part of the check In process includes a briefing on the beautiful waterfalls close by and great places to eat. We paid $45 a night 😱 and I would’ve paid way more for this experience. Bathrooms were pristine and they do fun community activities. On Saturdays they do coffee and breakfast, and hot dogs and live music at night.
