It was great for two different weekend stays. We have a "little" 16 foot trailer (3100 lbs), so the curvy country roads to the campground from US 1 were no problems for us. The campground is on a wide hill, so you will get exercise walking around. One electric & water service campsite was down by the river, the other electric & water & sewer site was basically as high on the hill as you can go. Bathrooms seemed clean enough for me. Store has essentials and snacks, and 3 different staff members were very pleasant to speak with, one helped me get backed into the top of the hill site. Rented a canoe, had a great time using it for an hour on the very gentle and medium wide river. We love the Brandywine area and Longwood Gardens so we will be staying here many times in the future. I read not-so-happy reviews from people with over 30' RVs, and I could see them not loving some of the tighter spaces inside and outside the camp. There are some pull-through sites that are probably a sanity-saver requirement for bigger rigs.

I had to give this a little bit of a lower score for location because it is off the beaten track. Very narrow roads to get there. The only thing are the dang black walnuts falling from the trees and breaking people's windows and things like that. But I did see staff out there cleaning a lot. You just can't prevent the nuts from falling. The place was quiet. It has canoes it's on the river. There's a great little trail to walk your dogs. Bath house and shower house was clean. Here's a nice little store. Here's a nice little store. Pool is closed for the season as of right now and there's a really good pizza place about a mile and a half away. Gas stations are quite a bit further away. Not ideal for one night. Stop in my opinion.

Stayed here for Thanksgiving 2025. They deliver firewood, collect trash and are a great family run business. We had a furnace issue with our RV forcing us to depart a day early and they refunded the cost of our fourth night. I would highly recommend staying at this KOA.

I highly recommend this campground! The sites are beautiful and clean, the amenities are amazing, but most of all the staff and owners are so kind and accommodating. I will be back often while my son is in college nearby. Stay here! You won't regret it.

I writing this review as a heads up to new people regarding a cancellation policy I wasn't aware of. I was planning to spend two night this coming weekend with our family and another family at two adjoinings sites by the river (they are really pretty, great for fishing right from the site). Well, the weather has shifted and there is a lightning storm coming on Saturday night and our family friends decided it best to postpone. So I called to cancel the reservations and I was told I have to forfeit a nearly $80 deposit. Mind you, our reason for cancellation is not because we WANT to cancel but because we aren't comfortable camping during a lightning storm. They told us we could have a site farther from the river (I was also concerned with camping during heavy rain, especially since the incident at Camp Mystic in Texas earlier in the year). So, if you are making plans to stay there be really sure the weather forecast doesn't include the possibility of lightning because if you have to cut your stay short due to dangerous weather you will have to forfeit your deposit. Like I said, it's a beautiful campground to stay. We've done the cabins in the late winter and had a blast. I'm disappointed the service wasn't better when it comes to dangerous weather cancellations.
