Great site with wide open sky but still protection from some wind and sun. Quite a ways from the Ranger Station, so pack well. There's room for 3 or 4 good size tents with a fire ring and grill, picnic table, and bear box. Layout isn't the greatest and it's about 50 yards to your vehicle, so you do have to haul gear back and forth. Extremely quiet and private. Moonless nights would give great view... If you're into a campsite with solitude this is a great spot. Just outside of el Solitario and tucked between a few hills and rock crops. Your closest neighbor is about 2 miles away as the crow flies. A bear box was installed recently and was a welcomed addition. You can make it to this site with a high clearance 2WD vehicle, but make sure you drive careful. Sharp rocks on the road can claim a tire if you're not cautious. Without help close by or mobile phone service you may be waiting for assistance.
