Vanderpool is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
Texas weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for Vanderpool.
Don't miss local attractions near Vanderpool. Ask the camp host for hidden gems and trails.

Stayed Nov '25. The Good: HUGE property with all the amenities a resort should have like trails, outside games, pool, etc. Beautifully maintained. The Good: HUGE property with all the amenities a resort should have like trails, outside games, pool, etc. Beautifully maintained. This resort is a great year-round getaway a short distance from DFW and close to Trade Days. Canton offers very little besides Trade Days in our opinion. It's a fine place to chill for a weekend or longer. The Not so Good: Sites on the southeast end of the property are too narrow. They could have done a few less sites on each row to add more width to each. Most sites on the northwest section seem wider. For such a large property, the dog park is definitely an afterthought. It is tiny and poorly placed. Fortunately, the trails counteracted this, but it's nice to have a place the dogs can be let off leash. The entrance to the resort is terribly placed and poorly marked...missed it a couple of times. Get rid of the stupid no outside firewood rule. I've seen this a couple of times at RV parks. You're not a national park, so get over yourself on that one. The Weird: Maybe it is Canton, which seems an "interesting" area even for east Texas standards. We are seasoned RV travelers having stayed in some nice resorts all over. NOWHERE have we ever been handed 11-PAGES of rules and guidelines to sign. This place must be owned/operated by a lawyer, or they just need to CYA on all of the stereotypical shenanigans from a certain element of the population. Examples are no using washing machine drums as firepits and involvement in domestic disputes. Beyond the weird, we did get a chuckle out of these rules which could easily be used as "you might be a redneck" jokes. All in all, Mill Creek is a fine place to stay with the highlight definitely being the extensive trails to walk.

A top notch resort location. Responsive management and staff. They provided accommodations for 41 of us in 11 cabins (tiny houses) for our family reunion. Clean pools, nice ponds for fishing. Lots of water features, so keep an eye on little ones. The outdoor pavilion was a great spot for us to gather and the on-site store was a great convenience. We definitely will consider again for future reunio... A top notch resort location. Responsive management and staff. It's a great little hideaway, get away. The cabins were painted beautiful. It's just that they're so tiny if you were a person of size. There would be an issue. But for the majority of guardian the trip the time that I spent there was wonderful i would definitely suggest this place for a perfect. Get away the staff is pleasant. Professional. And this was my first time there, but I will be back.
