I can honestly say it was Carlton Davenport who enabled us to get together on that occasion in that place, and who made the experience thoroughly enjoyable for all of us. Since I knew that it would be difficult to find accommodations there close to eclipse day, I started looking 3 years in advance. I called all of the hotels and resorts in the vicinity of the lake. Carlton was the only one who was willing to book a reservation that far in advance. We continued to stay in touch. When I requested additional RV spaces, he was happy to comply. When a cottage became available, he contacted me to ask if I would like to book it. When I asked for help with renting some campers, he referred me to a local business that was able to provide them. When we arrived at the park, we found it was even more pleasant than I expected. Not only is the view by the lake very pretty, but there is a playground with swings and a rope and a tree platform that delighted the young children. Carlton did everything possible to make sure that we felt welcome and comfortable. We all had a very good time, and we had a good view of the solar eclipse. As I got to know him, I found out that Carlton has a few interesting stories to tell. Be sure to ask him to show you his collection of arrow heads.

I took my 19 yr old daughter there for her first tent camping experience; wanted the backup of a cabin in the event of nasty November weather. He went out of his way to make our Father/Daughter camping a success. It couldn’t have been to profit off us as we hardly spent anything. I deduce that Carlton is just a friendly and interesting man who likes helping folks enjoy the wonderful area. We caught plenty of fish, enjoyed campfires, and memorable time. Thank You Carlton! God bless you and yours.
