The grass areas are mowed which helps with insects and stickers. The bad: The bathrooms are in need of a thorough cleaning. Spider webs with active spiders are present. The separate shower stalls need repair and cleaning. Only one of the four shower stalls had a working motion sensor light. They are pitch black without the light. The showers lack adequate ventilation and they're like a sauna. The ugly: This is a state park with paid state employees. There are numerous employees in the administration office and clearly there are groundskeepers on the payroll. Somebody needs to inspect the facilities and submit work orders for necessary repairs. This park has the potential to be outstanding. Somebody in a position of authority needs to personally visit the park's various facilities he oversees and take corrective measures..

Stayed in a travel trailer for a few days in the Big Pine area. It's truly a magical place. The swim area is really neat with a pad to lay out on in the middle. Trails are great! I never had a chance to rent a kayak, but that is available. The lake does not allow big boats so it' peaceful. Lots of people fishing. Got to love the tall pines! They also have one of the best park stores I've ever seen... Stayed in a travel trailer for a few days in the Big Pine area. It's truly a magical place. Went tent camping in January, so no problem finding a site. Good amount of space between sites and large area for your tent. There are 3 or 4 areas for tents, but only one bathroom/shower building. The staff at the visitor center were very nice.

Nicely spaced out RV slots with plenty of trees and well laid-out dining tables and fire pits. I believe all sites are full hookup. Love the park. We try to spend 2 weeks in the fall to catch the color change. We were not disappointed this year. I would've given the park 5 stars but the bathrooms are in serious need of updating. Hopefully with the passage of the Constitutional Amendment they will finally have the funds.
