Leander is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
Texas weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for Leander.

I am correcting this review because Leander contacted me. Mary explained the rate more thoroughly and said we were given a $9 dollar credit. I don't want to come across too negative; Bill and Mary are very polite. Regardless of the confusion, I know we would have been charged the higher rate had I not brought the envelope inside. Regardless of the confusion, I know we would have been charged the higher rate had I not brought the envelope inside. That said, I was so grateful that they answered their phone after hours. If you're traveling in your RV and you need a place to stay at the last minute, you might resort to this KOA Site. We also noticed that the bathrooms were not locked; that surprised us.

Honestly there is nothing exciting about this location for $75 per night. The pool and hot tub were shut down for the season and they don’t have any pickleball courts or anything. And we stuck out very far into the middle of the pavement- in front of the office… which felt weird. If it was $55 off season then yes I would be recommending this place. Now compared to other places near Austin- I don’t... Honestly there is nothing exciting about this location for $75 per night. ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE: North Austin-Leander KOA – Avoid at all costs!-Run down dump ran by heartless tyrants. If there's one place on Earth that embodies everything wrong with camping – from crumbling facilities to outright hostile ownership – it's the North Austin-Leander KOA. My partner and I, traveling pediatric ER nurses, checked in on November 6th intending to stay through February 13th. What followed was a nightmare that shattered any illusion of hospitality, leaving us evicted, stressed, and out of pocket. This isn't just a bad stay; it's a cautionary tale that should make anyone with a shred of self-respect run screaming in the opposite direction. From the moment we arrived, red flags waved high. They had our reservation so mismanaged we had to relocate spots immediately due to putting us in the smallest spot possible– a sloppy start that set the tone for their utter incompetence. The amenities? Pathetic and utterly dilapidated. We're talking outdated, falling-apart bathrooms with fixtures that look like they haven't been updated since the Stone Age, old showers that make you feel dirtier after using them, and an overall setup that screams neglect. The whole park feels like a forgotten truck stop parking lot – barren, uninviting, and devoid of any charm or maintenance. Overpriced for what you get? Absolutely. Worth the hassle? Not in a million years. But the true villains here are the owners. Picture this: After a solid week of us being model guests, they roll up unannounced while I'm innocently changing a headlight bulb on my car. They grill me – "Is that your camper?" – as if I'm some trespasser, then demand I report to their office "at a later time" without a single detail on why or when. No politeness, no explanation – just drive off like we're beneath them. I work night shifts saving kids' lives in the ER, so I crash during the day and planned to handle it post-shift the next morning. But nope – I wake to a text from a staffer: We're being booted by December because the "lady owner" despises the look of my custom-built camper. This isn't some junker; the trailer portion alone is pricier and far classier than anything in their sad excuse for a park. Yet, her highness deemed it unworthy. Their so-called "options" to stay? Pure insult. Either get relegated to the back near the dog park – the noisy, isolated Siberia of the campground – or physically disassemble my camper by removing the top portion. Dismantle my home-on-wheels after we'd already paid and settled in? It's not just unreasonable; it's vindictive and absurd. We were shocked, humiliated, and furious. And if you're under 65? Forget it. These ageist tyrants treat younger guests like brainless nuisances, unworthy of basic decency or dialogue. It's blatant discrimination wrapped in snobbery. The fallout? Devastating. Mid-contract in a high-stress job, we were forced to hunt for new accommodations, shelling out extra rent and enduring unnecessary chaos. The only heroes? The non-owner staff – kind, helpful folks who tried to soften the blow (shoutout to that awesome employee who texted me). But the owners? They couldn't give a damn about their overworked team, their decaying facilities, or the guests who keep them afloat. This was our worst KOA experience by a landslide – traumatic, unprofessional, and soul-crushingly unfair. Thank heavens we escaped to the East Austin KOA A sparkling gem with top-notch everything, warm vibes, and actual respect for guests. It's night and day; go there and never look back. As for North Austin-Leander? Avoid it like a toxic waste dump. The owners are heartless, the place is a dilapidated embarrassment, and staying here could ruin your trip, your wallet, and your faith in humanity. Zero stars this KOA doesn't deserve a single visitor. Boycott it, warn your friends, and let it fade into obscurity where it belongs! Mary, here are pictures of my “ugly”camper so you can look at it forever hope you enjoy seeing it again, even though I was told you don’t read these reviews, I hope people bring this up to you for years to come.

Was tired on 10/8/25 and needed a break in driving. Tent site was outrageously priced at $75!!!!! Website shows $65. I paid only $33 in Salina, KS KOA. I left and did NOT STAY. Sites were clean and very nice, well lit, hated to leave, but I could get a motel room for $110!

The staff was friendly, responsive, and genuinely eager to accommodate. My brother’s family joined us last-minute in a cabin next door, and we spent the weekend swimming, biking, playing games, and roasting s’mores by the fire while relaxing in rocking chairs. We celebrated my nephew’s birthday in the clubhouse during a Father’s Day cookout hosted by the staff—hot dogs and fresh watermelon made it extra special. Everything was clean, peaceful, and exactly as advertised, which made planning a breeze. We stayed in a pet-friendly cabin with our schnauzers and loved the large dog run just steps away—clean, stocked with bags, and plenty of fresh water. Even when we needed help with a wasp at the pool, staff responded right away despite no on-site maintenance at the time of our request. Safe, relaxing, and full of heart—KOA Leander / NW Austin made for the perfect family weekend. We’ll definitely be back! THANK YOU!!
