About Boy Scout Camp

Campground in Utah.

Boy Scout Camp in Utah offers a wonderful retreat for RV travelers seeking authentic outdoor experiences in the heart of the American West. This public campground provides a rustic, nature-focused setting where visitors can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with what matters most, whether that's family, friends, or simply the tranquility of nature.

The surrounding Utah landscape is nothing short of spectacular. The region is characterized by stunning red rock formations, dramatic canyon views, and wide-open desert vistas that shift in color and character throughout the day as the sun moves across the sky. Early morning and sunset are particularly magical times, when the natural light transforms the landscape into a painter's palette of reds, oranges, and purples. The clear night skies above are ideal for stargazing, offering some of the darkest skies available in many parts of Utah, making it perfect for those who want to experience the Milky Way in all its glory.

Hiking enthusiasts will find plenty of nearby trails ranging from easy strolls to more challenging adventures. The family and I got a chance to stay here recently when we were in the area visiting a family friend who was on r@r from Dugway Proving Ground Base. I have to say that we all had a great time here and will come back to stay again. Very beautiful and lots of nature.

We LOVED camping here. It was beautiful, quiet. The campsites are spaced out enough that even our rowdy group didn't disturb the group across from us. Spacious, amazing staff. The camp host Margaret was especially welcoming, helpful, and happy to help us out with our questions. It rained a lot of the weekend but we still gave it 6/5 stars!

Bathroom were clean, magically didn’t stink. There is a hike you can do from the camp site, that goes all the way up is difficult level, we didn’t finish it because we were with my 2 1/2 years old and I was pregnant, so we didn’t see the end of the trail. Overall was nice clean and quiet. You have to pay $10 per night per extra car cash or check, the road to get there is gravel but easy to get there, we were in a mini van and made it fine, spot 5 had a long parking lot but spot 6 not sure where you parked was the smallest spot I saw. Sorry I’m writing a big review because when I was looking into this place I didn’t see many reviews and I hope this can be helpful to others, one more thing I had limited cellphone service but my son with T-Mobile he had none other members of my family had service poor but with service, T-Mobile was the only one with no service

Great campground. If you have a large group and can grab the multiple sites it's ideal. Beautiful canyon, you're in a well vegetated area, tucked into a little draw, with a creek below and stansbury trail above. The campsite is far enough off the road we didn't notice any traffic. Male and Female outhouses. I'd never been out to this mountain range and was impressed with the area.

Boy Scout campground isn't designed very well. Several campsites aren't trailer friendly (turned the wrong way, no place to turn around). Several campsites aren't trailer friendly (turned the wrong way, no place to turn around). WARNING: Plan on walking in, inspect and make a plan to get in and then back out. You don't want to get stuck. For some sites, the table and fire pit are up a steep grade (NO steps/stairs). Online photos are misleading. When it's raining, it'll be easy to slip and fall down the hill. Good luck on getting your cooler, food and gear up to the table. The two group sites (7 & 8) are right on top of each other. There is a steep incline and no steps to access site 7 from site 8. The camp is very scenic and peaceful. Note, not every campsite has access to the (seasonal?) stream. Restrooms (vault type) are not centrally located (next to the group sites at the far end). No garbage service, plan on packing out. On our visit, no camp host. Grantsville is a short drive away, but is limited on services. Nearest Sani-dump is in Tooele. We had intermittent, one bar of signal for our Verizon phones in site 6.
