About Grantsville Resevoir Campground

Campground in Utah.

Nestled in the heart of Utah's stunning landscape, Grantsville Reservoir Campground offers a peaceful escape into nature with easy access to some of the region's most compelling outdoor destinations. This public campground serves as an ideal basecamp for travelers seeking authentic Utah experiences without the crowds found at more developed facilities.

The setting itself is remarkable, situated near a beautiful reservoir where the water reflects the surrounding mountains and desert terrain. The area captures that distinctive high desert charm that makes Utah so special—wide open skies, remarkable sunsets that paint the landscape in brilliant colors, and clean, crisp air that feels refreshing and invigorating. Whether you arrive in spring when wildflowers dot the landscape or summer when the days are long and perfect for exploration, the natural beauty here provides constant visual rewards.

What makes this location particularly valuable for RV travelers is its proximity to several significant attractions and outdoor recreation opportunities. The nearby Bonneville Salt Flats offer one of Utah's most unique and otherworldly landscapes—a vast white expanse that stretches across the horizon and provides excellent photography opportunities and a chance to experience something truly one-of-a-kind. The area is also well-positioned for exploring the historic mining heritage and charming small towns that characterize this region of Utah.

Water recreation is a highlight here, with the reservoir providing opportunities for fishing, boating, and simply enjoying the peaceful waters. The surrounding terrain invites hiking and exploration, allowing visitors to discover scenic vistas and experience the region's natural diversity. The campground appeals to families looking for a relaxed camping experience, outdoor enthusiasts seeking access to recreational activities, and travelers simply wanting to experience authentic Utah landscapes away from major tourism centers.

The relatively modest size of this campground with 24 sites means you'll experience a more intimate camping environment where you can actually enjoy tranquility and a genuine connection with the landscape. This is the kind of place where you can slow down, breathe deeply, and remember why you love RV travel in the first place.

Beautiful location looking at the mountains and towards Stansbury island. Drop toilets and benches, fire rings. $20/night but no camp host there so.. honesty system i guess! Plenty of people fishing at the reservoir till late. Only negative was the wind throughout the night, in a tent it was ridiculous. Didn’t get much sleep once it started and didn’t stop till after the sun came up. In a Van or... Beautiful location looking at the mountains and towards Stansbury island. This is the great outdoors close to relatively big cities. Not much out there other than rocks dirt, and some water, but that’s what makes it wild.

For overnight camping the campground is sufficient. Paying there to stay overnight wasn’t possible and we never saw a ranger to do so. You can’t take your trailers or park next to the water at the reservoir, which makes fishing not as fun as it once was.

Fun place to camp. Fishing was great. We caught 2 fishes and went on a bike ride around the lake. Costs $10/ night, checkout time is 10AM. It is close to 2 canyons and some dirtbike/utv trails. The north canyon is great for offroading with a jeep.
