Located in Brookside, this public campground provides direct access to one of the region's most picturesque water destinations, making it an ideal base camp for families, anglers, and nature enthusiasts alike.

The Gunnison Reservoir itself is the main attraction here, offering stunning views across the water with surrounding mountains creating a dramatic natural backdrop. The calm waters are perfect for a variety of recreational activities, from fishing to boating, and the setting provides ample opportunities for photography, especially during sunrise and sunset when the light paints the landscape in golden hues. Gunnison Reservoir Use Area and Campground offers plenty of promise as a delightful getaway. It boasts an ideal location with easy accessibility, being conveniently close to most of Sanpete County. On our visit, we found the water level to be disappointingly low, which limited the beach area. However, there was still enough space for recreation and fun activities, allowing for an enjoyable time with family and friends. The overall atmosphere and setting hold significant potential, and with a little more attention, particularly regarding water levels, this spot could easily become a five-star destination. The convenience factor alone—due to its proximity—is a major highlight, making spontaneous trips appealing for the locals. All in all, Gunnison Reservoir is worthy of a solid four stars. With just a few tweaks and improvements, it could easily rise to the top of our list for favorite camping and recreational spots!

Nice for water toys, flotation devices, etc... I would wear some kind of water shoe as there's a lot of rocks on the water bed. No natural shad. The location we were at had 2 picnic table pavilions.
