Cannonville, Utah
Campground in Utah.
Photos shown are stock images and may not represent the actual campground.
There is no longer a Maples campground north of the Snowbasin Ski Resort. All picnic tables, firerings and restrooms have been removed. The public may still camp in the area, but must camp away from the trail that goes through the site. All access is walk-ins/bicycles/horses only, no motor vehicles, it is approximately 1/2 mile from the gate. The gate just off the pavement at the lower Snowbasin parking lot is the gravel trail/road to the area.

USFS website says campsites do not have picnic tables or fire pits, but as you can see in the photo both are available at the sites. Places for tents are a bit uneven, but there's opportunities for hammocking. Only a mile hike to get into the sites. Only 3 sites available that I saw, but there's nobody up there (went on a Saturday and it was lonely) but no reservations required so it's perfect fo... This area is so rad, Camping is not maintained by any state offices, so it''s primitive camping.

This is an old abandoned campground, but we still think it's a great place for a short family camp out. The walk in is short and easy for young children (wide gravel road) and there are decent picnic tables near the camping spots. It seems like people avoid it because it isn't maintained, but overnight use is permitted and you get a little peace and quiet without having to schlep the kids for 5+ m... This place isn't maintained anymore, which honestly makes it even cooler. It's about a mile trek from the parking lot. The wide open fields or dense forrest make great places to camp or hang a hammock, and it feels pretty remote since it's not maintained anymore. The trail is pretty heavily used so be sure to withdraw a bit from it if you like your privacy.

We love backpacking into this little campground with our kids. It's under a mile and quiet. There are no amenities so pack out everything
