This is an amazing group campsite! Lots of trees to hammock on, a nice gathering place in the center, and a beautiful trail leading up the mountain. It was so nice having the site and trail for just our group. There was plenty of space for the 6 families that stayed. I could see it potentially having room for at least 20 cars and tents. The only drawback was the road getting to the campsite. It's... This is an amazing group campsite! There was plenty of space for the 6 families that stayed. I could see it potentially having room for at least 20 cars and tents. The only drawback was the road getting to the campsite. It's short, but it's extremely steep, rutted, and gravelly. I had a hard time getting my Chevy Traverse up. Everyone else had Toyotas or Subarus, and they didn't have a problem. I wouldn't take a sedan; you'd definitely need an all wheel or four-wheel drive vehicle. I talked with the hosts at Yellow Pine Campground before heading up to make sure we were clear to occupy the site. They were so pleasant and happy to help. They kept the site and vault toilet so clean.

This campground is extremely beautiful and just over the hill from the highway so you have no view or sound from passing cars. It feels remote without being too far from town. It’s also great for large groups!

We reserved from the 12th - 15th of April. The camp hosts had our site clearly labeled and raked the site clean of the pine needles which was nice. We had an issue with an ATV riding around the site, and the hosts quickly corrected the riders that use of ATV's is not allowed in the grounds. We had an issue with an ATV riding around the site, and the hosts quickly corrected the riders that use of ATV's is not allowed in the grounds. The one issue with the facility was that the dumping station was closed, and so we had to drive all the way back to Queen Creek with waste tanks full. We had a bit of noise from the highway, but our site was very close to the entrance. if you drive further into the campground, I'm sure you won't hear the traffic on the highway. It's advisable to bring fire wood with you. It is for sale at the campground, but you can get it a lot cheaper in town. Charcoal grills ar also available so bring a bag of that too! Lots of places to explore off the camp grounds. Once you walk out the entrance of the camp you can let your dogs off of their leash. We plan on returning

We left a day early today because there were sweat bees everywhere. We spoke to other campers and at least 2 people were stung in each site. 1 or 2 bees is one thing but our campground had at least 30 or so. We spent more of our time during the weekend away from the site which is not we were expecting. We spoke to the management and said this was an issue for the last month or so. Also the w... We spent more of our time during the weekend away from the site which is not we were expecting. We spoke to the management and said this was an issue for the last month or so. Also the water spout near our camp was not working and no sign was posted. I stayed here a couple of months ago and it was a better experience which is why they get 3 stars. This is no longer the first place I will check when considering camping near Payson. If you are allergic to bees call ahead.
