About Roosevelt

Campground in Utah.

Roosevelt, Utah, nestled in the northern reaches of the state, offers a quintessential public campground experience for RV travelers seeking authentic access to Utah's remarkable natural landscape. This area serves as an excellent base for exploring the diverse terrain and attractions that define northeastern Utah's character and charm.

The Roosevelt area sits at a gateway to some truly distinctive outdoor destinations. The nearby Ashley National Forest provides extensive opportunities for hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing throughout the seasons. The Uinta Mountains, visible from many vantage points in the region, offer dramatic backdrops and numerous trails suitable for various skill levels. For those interested in water activities, several fishing areas and scenic waterways are within reasonable driving distance, making this location particularly appealing to anglers and water enthusiasts.

One of the greatest appeals of camping near Roosevelt is the genuine connection to Utah's remote backcountry. Unlike some heavily developed tourist areas, this region maintains its authentic character while still providing essential visitor services. The town itself offers basic amenities, dining options, and supplies for RV travelers who need to restock or pick up forgotten items. The slower pace here allows visitors to genuinely unwind and experience the region without feeling rushed or crowded.

The area attracts a diverse range of travelers: families seeking outdoor adventures away from busy highways, retirees exploring scenic byways at their own pace, and outdoor enthusiasts interested in hiking, hunting, or fishing opportunities. The Roosevelt public campground provides a more rustic camping experience compared to commercial RV parks, which many travelers prefer for its straightforward, no-frills approach and lower costs.

Seasonal considerations are important here, with summer offering warm days and cool mountain nights, while fall brings striking color changes. Spring and early summer are particularly popular for fishing season. The elevation and northern Utah location mean visitors should plan accordingly for weather variations throughout the year. This is genuinely remote Utah country—the kind of place where you can watch spectacular sunsets over expansive landscapes and experience the quiet beauty that defines the state's interior regions.

The man camp is in this trailer park. The roads are ft filled with car killing pot holes, like HUGE pot holes. But despite it's looks, it's a quiet park for the most part and like everything in Roosevelt is within walking distance of anywhere u would need to go in Roosevelt.

Can you imagine push mowing that RV facility for years? It sounds like more positive changes will be noticed over the next year as projects are completed. Special thanks to Jenny for putting up with me and I’m really glad she is working for owners that care about the facility. I can’t speak about the bathrooms or laundry as I didn’t use any this time around.

I love this place! The park manager is super helpful and friendly! A short walk down the hill and you can fish and swim, dog friendly is a major bonus! May not be for everyone, but I sure enjoy this place!

Jen was very nice when we checked in. Made sure we knew that we had to keep our dogs on the leash and to make sure we picked up after them. Unfortunately, the two trailers next to us each had two dogs that were never on the leash and their owners never cleaned up after them even though they went right where you walked through a grassy area to get to a little trail. Pretty disturbing. When my wife used the women’s toilet it only flushed the liquids not the solids so for two days so she never used it. It’s nice that the campsites are further apart and in a treed area. At $55 a night I would go to the state campground over at Starvation Lake. It’s only a mile from the west end of Duchesne. Full hook ups and on the lake where you can swim and boat from the campsite and campground is immaculate. And they’re only $35 for full hookups.

Not sure when these photos were taken. I understand we are late in the summer season, but there is not much grass. I didn’t venture to the bathrooms, my husband told me they were not so great. The sign was ripped off where we were staying, so number 18 looked like 13. The map is not clear of where to go for what site. 1-10 but no signs for the others. I drove around the entire place trying to find our spot, but the owner came and led my husband where our spot was. The location is fantastic, this place has a lot of potential being so close to Starvation but just pretty worn down. We are use to getting papers when we sign into RV parks with a map and wifi, but not so much with this place. The state parks looked a lot nicer for $30 a night. HWY noise is pretty loud. Probably pass on this place next time we come. Dog poop area needed to be cleaned as well as the poop basket was overflowing.
