It is said that Joseph Nielson discovered this amazing sink hole in 1927. He was heading back to his camp at night when he strayed into the area. His horse stopped and absolutely refused to go another step. He got off the horse and started walking, when suddenly he was hanging on to the reins of his horse with nothing below his feet. Fortunately, Nielson was able to coax his horse to back up while he was holding the reins and get out of the mysterious hole he found himself in. The next day, Niel

Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
Utah weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for the area.
Don't miss local attractions near the park. Ask the camp host for hidden gems and trails.

Fantastic little glamping area! Plenty of RV hook up stalls and plenty of stargazing cabins. Lots of nice little amenities like swings and kid play areas, fire pits, out door seating, and comfy patio furniture at the lodge. Showers and bathrooms were clean and nice and private. The bed in the stargazing cabin i stayed in was so comfy! Definitely can't wait to come back!

Navigation through the park is straightforward, even for larger rigs, and setup was quick and painless. The vistas are excellent, with beautiful views in pretty much every direction, and the location is ideal for exploring Capitol Reef and the surrounding area. Peaceful, well maintained, and incredibly convenient. We’d absolutely stay here again and would recommend it without hesitation.

Our family of 5 stayed in one of the a-frames at Capitol Reef RV Park + Glamping, and we would 100% recommend it to anyone who plans to visit the area. The a-frames are cozy + clean, and the beds are comfortable. The picnic table, fire pit, and lounge chairs make for great outdoor time. The views are amazing, and even though there are other a-frames and an entire RV park on the grounds it is very (VERY) quiet! The bathroom/shower rooms are topnotch and always clean. We loved our time here, and we would absolutely stay again.

We chose this campground because of location (short drive to Capitol Reef NP) and availability (Sept/Oct is the busy season in this area so book early!). Bathrooms and showers are combined (though individual) and spacious. They do have timers on the showers but it wasn't too short. They also have outdoor entertaining areas (hammocks, fireplaces, games) but we didn't use them; nice to have if you have the time. Campground is kept clean and it was an enjoyable stay. We recommend this campground for your Capitol Reef area stay!

This is a brand new RV park, and they are off to a great start! Just 8 months old, and are hitting on all cylinders! It’s a little distance from Capital Reef, but not bad. Torrey is a quaint little town, which in season has a lot to offer as well. I love campgrounds that are rustic in nature where appropriate - like in the country/“destination” areas, but find a way to still bring in some essential and splurge amenities without paving everything over and creating an artificial environment. The grounds are all gravel - two-tone - which is nice to distinguish road from campsite. Which means little-to-no dirt and mud n the daily activities. Restroom/showers are exceptional - heated, nice tile, spacious, with the essential products included. Common areas are nice - didn’t have time or opportunity to use them much as wind, rain, temperatures were against us. Shaded areas, Deck chairs, hammocks, and movable wind/sunscreens help with the elements. The camp store was exceptionally nice - seating areas, essential items for sale, including local ice cream, grass fed beef, eggs, etc. I would highly recommend this campground in your travels! This is the best game in town!

My Family and I love this park so much! It has the most spacious sites for both of our car. We had such a blast this time around and, I just have to say what a sweetheart Marisa is at the front desk. She was so kind, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. It’s such a comfort to be greeted by someone with such lovely manners and a genuine smile. You don’t get that nowadays. I will say, the road can get a bit noisy from time to time but, that’s to be expected with how convenient the location is to the freeway. We will be back soon.

My wife and I stayed here for one night while passing through on our way to Las Vegas, and we found it to be a very pleasant stop. The grounds were well kept, and we appreciated the trash service. Even the landscaper Breven took a few minutes to visit with us in the morning, which was mighty kind of him. It’s not often you come across folks who still take the time to be neighborly.

We absolutely love Southern Utah RV Park & Resort. This was our second time staying here and it did not disappoint. The park is immaculately clean, beautifully maintained, and the managers and staff are seriously some of the nicest people. They do community activities, and we happened to be there for their Valentine’s breakfast, which was such a sweet and thoughtful thing for them to do. They didn’t have to do it at all, but they went above and beyond with egg casserole, bacon, fruit, pancakes, hot chocolate and it was awesome. The only thing I’d love to see is a gluten-free option besides fruit and bacon. The pads are gravel and very well leveled, super wide, and you never feel cramped. The daily garbage pickup was such a nice bonus too. If I had to suggest anything, it would be making it fully gated for an even more luxury and secure experience. It’s obvious they take pride in their property. We were extremely happy with our stay and highly recommend this place.

We stayed in the Airbnb loft room for 4 days over New Years. It was such a great time. The park is great and all the other guests were awesome. Marysa in the office and Brevin the maintenance guy were superb. They went out of their way to make sure everything was great for us. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in this park for 3 months in a very roomy campsite. All of the sites are generously sized. The entire staff is kind and helpful, but Bree really stands out. She was fantastic from check-in to check-out and she was there for any questions or concerns we had throughout our stay.
