This campground is a nice place for those that can handle no water or electricity. The sites are decent, and every one has a gazebo and fire ring. Some of them don’t have the best flat spaces, but it’s not too bad. Note that the site sits in a little bowl that blocks a good deal of the wind. This did make for a hotter area during our August trip. Even so, access is great and setting up is a breeze... This campground is a nice place for those that can handle no water or electricity. Note that the site sits in a little bowl that blocks a good deal of the wind. This did make for a hotter area during our August trip. Even so, access is great and setting up is a breeze. The sky is also exceptionally dark, so you get some 5 star stargazing so long as the sky is clear. Also note that water is available at the Pariah station pump about 30 minutes away. We just headed up there once to refill our water as we stayed for 5 days. As several have mentioned, this gives reasonable access to a ton of sites in the area. North and South Buttes, Buckskin Gultch, White pocket, and several good hoodoos are relatively close. This is also the north end of the AZ trail. Everything takes time because of a main dirt road that can get sketchy with water, and very challenging sandy roads if you head out into Vermillion any way but on foot. Except for main dirt road access to the site, DO NOT try and take on the sand unless you have 4WD high clearance and an experienced driver. We found ourselves pulling out a bonehead in a 2WD FJ that didn’t heed the posted warning.

Very quiet for an overnight camping trip. My wife and I hiked the Arizona Trail section 43 (out and back) and stayed the night in our tent. Update - 2/20/2025. Still a great spot. Bathrooms always cleaned and stocked. The road coming in off of 89 is a bit rough. We drive a F350 with a truck camper. Just to start, be aware that mobile data is practically non-existent here, with just a single spot for T-Mobile that I managed to connect to. On a positive note, this place is an absolute gem for stargazing and exploring trails during the day. I'd highly recommend trying out the trail along the wadi near the site, and if the weather allows, even going for a run. However, I'd advise against travel... A well maintained, free campground... Yes, please! I stayed here and had the whole place to myself. Didn’t expect that, but I was quite ok with it. Definitely was worth the stay. Whether you’re coming from the north or south, the road getting there can be rough at times, but as long as it’s dry just about any vehicle can make it. Just take your time and pay attention to the road and your surroun... A well maintained, free campground... Yes, please! I stayed here and had the whole place to myself. However, there is a decent/strong signal that can be found. Also, just as a tip, always go prepared with enough supplies (food/water/clothing) for you and your passengers, and always let someone know where you are going and when you will return.

Stateline is the northern entrance to the famous Arizona Trail. Wonderful spot to camp and/or have a picnic. Lots to see and do if you like to hike, bike and photograph natural wonders. The people that take care of Stateline do such a good job. I hope anyone who uses it, uses it well and keeps it nice. Here's to a great hike! Cheers.
