This campground is dog and kid friendly. It is the highest campground up Hobble Creek, so there is not as much traffic and people. Good shade and trees for hammocking and a stream running by. Vault toilets were not unpleasant. Haul own water in and haul out own trash. Picnic table and cement pad with fire ring. Nice clear spots for tents. Free range cattle roam outside fenced campground.

Lovely and clean campground which is located on the side of a running stream. Family friendly! Its pack in pack out campground ... thefe is no garbage disposal ...they did have a tap for a running water and don't count on it.

We loved everything about our camping trip! Balsam was a clean, beautiful, shaded campground. The bathrooms were clean and didn't smell completely awful. There wasn't really a flat spot for our tent at site 3, but we made it work. It was fun exploring the side of the mountain and seeing the river. Loved it!

Beautiful area, clean compost toilets (no soap, water, or hand sanitizer though). Paved to be more handicap friendly, however, slopes are very steep. Friendly and helpful staff. Pack it in, pack it out. There are NO TRASH SERVICES ON SITE. Please, clean up after yourself.

Balsam Campground is a beautiful place. We have camped there twice over two years. I am stuck in a wheelchair, so my wife and I are always on the lookout for accessible camping. Several sites at Balsam are identified as accessible, but they have their challenges. As it so happens, Site 7 is not labeled accessible, yet I found it to be the most accessible option at the campground. Your mileage may... Balsam Campground is a beautiful place. Our campground host, Rebecca, was very helpful, friendly, and informative. She helped my wife get our canopy set up and kept us posted on weather updates. We will likely return next year, my health permitting.
