Nestled in the heart of Utah's stunning Wasatch Mountains, Jordan Pines Campground offers RV travelers an authentic escape into one of the West's most breathtaking landscapes. Located along Big Cottonwood Canyon Road, this national forest campground provides the perfect basecamp for those seeking mountain recreation, scenic beauty, and peaceful solitude away from crowded commercial parks.

The canyon setting creates a naturally cool refuge, especially welcome during Utah's hot summers. Towering pines frame the campground, providing ample shade and that distinctive forest atmosphere that makes camping feel like a true retreat. The elevation and tree cover mean you'll experience notably cooler temperatures than the surrounding valleys, making summer camping comfortable even during peak heat waves. The area's natural beauty is complemented by the sound of rushing water from the nearby creek, creating a serene soundscape that helps visitors disconnect from everyday stress.

Big Cottonwood Canyon is renowned among outdoor enthusiasts for its exceptional recreational opportunities. The canyon offers excellent hiking trails ranging from gentle walks to challenging alpine adventures. Mountain biking trails crisscross the area, attracting riders of all skill levels. In winter, the region transforms into a snow sports destination, with ski resorts nearby providing world-class downhill and cross-country skiing. Fishing opportunities abound in the canyon's pristine waters, where anglers can pursue native and introduced species in spectacular mountain settings.

Beyond the immediate canyon, the location provides convenient access to greater Salt Lake City area attractions while maintaining a genuine mountain camping experience. This makes it ideal for travelers who want outdoor adventure without sacrificing proximity to urban amenities, shopping, and dining options. Families appreciate the balance of safe, peaceful camping combined with abundant activities for children and adults alike. Whether you're seeking a summer escape from heat, a fall foliage adventure, or a base for exploring Utah's incredible outdoor recreation, Jordan Pines Campground delivers an authentic national forest experience that keeps visitors returning year after year.

We helped with several events at the cabin at the Jordan Pines Campground. The customers were happy. We had a squirrel helper during one setup. We hope to do more events there soon. Thank you Arbor Meadows Decor

Camping here is a great time. I’ve been camping here twice. The site is well maintained. There is ample room for several people. The tables and firepit are in a good location. The site is near hiking trails and the location of the site is convenient and easy to drive to. It’s about 30 minutes from Salt Lake City.

Such a nice spot to trek around montane environments. Be careful and quiet, you just might see moose sharing these spaces, too.

Great spot for a day camp, located in a lush forest in the mountains up Big Cottonwood Canyon. We reserved it for a family cookout. There’s a spigot with fresh water that made bottle refills and hand washing a breeze. Outhouse nearby. Awesome to have a fire pit although it’s sunken into the ground which made it more dangerous for the kiddos, and the heat of it made it more difficult to roast mars... Awesome to have a fire pit although it’s sunken into the ground which made it more dangerous for the kiddos, and the heat of it made it more difficult to roast marshmallows for the small ones. It’s just a 5 min drive or 15 min walk from the campsite to the Donut Falls Trailhead, which is a great short hike to do for a fun outing.

Peaceful campground, useful for big groups! Bathrooms are ok, excelent views. It was cold in the night, so bring extra blankets.
