We had an amazing camping trip to Anderson Cove Campground. First time taking our new trailer out and loved everything about this campground. The camp ground was clean, the camp sites are well spaced out, and the surplus of trees makes it a great place to bring a hammock as well. Camp host was very friendly, checking in with us immediately upon arrival making sure to answer any questions we had. All around a great atmosphere for camping! 10/10 will be coming back :)

We hold NA meetings in various places and this year we held one in Layton Loop. It’s was a very busy time and sometimes waiting in the line to get in the campground was long. Upon my first arrival at the store we were greeted by a very friendly lady named Colleen. I saw her working the store some nights as well as being a Host in Layton Loop other times. She was kind and courteous to all of us coming into the meeting each day we were there. We all raved about her. She answered all our questions and helped us with parking. Her smile warmed my heart especially after some tough days while in recovery. We found everyone to be friendly except a girl with dreads working the store. She seemed dismissive like I was bothering her when I came into the store to buy something. I felt like I was interrupting her drawing or whatever she was working on. I didn’t bother to get her name. Another time, another lady slammed the window shut when we were approaching it after seeing us walk up. We felt like we were not wanted. After that, we minimized our trips to the store unless Colleen was there. Layton Loop was very busy but well maintained. We found other campers to be rude by not following the rules like parking in our spots, blocking walking paths which made it difficult for us to carry stuff to our site, late night partying at 2am, being rude to the Camp Host doing her job, and trashing the bathrooms. We all were in recovery so we were being respectful but other campers behavior were disappointing. Colleen handled our complaints professionally and apologetically about nearby neighbors partying late hours of the night. We witnessed how she was treated at times and were appalled by some campers poor behavior towards her. Colleen was very kind and never displayed anger or rudeness to any of us. Camp Hosts work hard to maintain the ground and do their best to help campers out. I think leaving a bad review for a company or person on social media comes from a bad place from someone. We were happy with our stay and happy to return. We find peace at Anderson Cove and like being near the water to go fishing. We may just find a different time to go when it’s not so busy. We hope to see Colleen again and her beautiful smile.

We absolutely LOVE Anderson Cove! The campground is super nice but the camp hosts are the Stars (I mean other than Colleen over in Layton Loop that is rude and yells at you). Boo!

Anderson Cove will always be my second home. I grew up spending my childhood summers here—riding my bike through the campground, swimming in the lake, and laughing around the campfire late into the night. This was my mom’s favorite place, and since her passing in 2020, this was my first time back. Now that my husband and I have our own camper, we returned to explore the campground from a new perspective and find a spot to call home for a week. When we arrived, the camp hosts at the entrance were friendly and gave us a day pass to drive around and check out the sites. We were so excited, especially when we found a campsite that reminded me of the ones I stayed in growing up. As we pulled in to take a closer look and see if our camper would fit, I approached a camp host named Coleen who, to my surprise, greeted us with hostility. She asked if we had permission to be there, and despite explaining we had a day pass and just wanted to ask a few questions, she rudely dismissed me and told us we were not allowed to park. She made it clear we needed to leave, without offering help or even basic courtesy. It was a jarring experience, especially at a place that holds so much love and nostalgia for me. I understand it was right after the busy Fourth of July holiday, and maybe she was having a rough day—but there’s no excuse for rudeness. The world needs more kindness, and her attitude felt completely out of place in such a beautiful, welcoming setting. Thankfully, when we returned to officially reserve our spot, we were greeted by Danielle and Sierra—two incredible camp hosts who completely turned things around. They were warm, helpful, and genuinely excited to meet us. They’re exactly the kind of people who make a campground feel like home, and Anderson Cove is lucky to have them. If you’re considering a stay, know this: Anderson Cove has everything you need for a memorable camping trip. I’ve stayed here in both tents and now a trailer, on both sides of the campground. The bathrooms are always clean, the sites are well maintained, and the lake views are unbeatable. Thank you, Anderson Cove, for being my favorite place for over 30 years. Despite one negative encounter, this campground still holds a sacred place in my heart.

We accidentally took a wrong turn and got lost. We parked to figure out where we were going and felt scolded for doing so. When we got to Layton Loop a very friendly camp host escorted us to our spot. I believe her name was Coleen. She apologized on behalf of the company for the other camp host which we appreciated. There was a fireworks display around 10pm over the water even though it rained. We enjoyed our time and will be back to Layton Loop since we can’t seem to get a reservation on the other side. Thanks Coleen for your kindness. You made our stay enjoyable.
