About Duke's Slickrock Campground & RV Park

Campground in Utah.

Nestled in the heart of southeastern Utah, Duke's Slickrock Campground & RV Park offers RV travelers an exceptional base for exploring one of America's most dramatic landscapes. Located in Hanksville along Highway 24, this campground sits at a crossroads of adventure, putting you within striking distance of some of the most iconic natural wonders in the country.

The Hanksville area is renowned for its otherworldly terrain and outdoor recreation opportunities that attract adventurers from around the globe. Within short drives, you'll find yourself surrounded by towering red rock formations, winding rivers, and vast desert vistas that seem to stretch endlessly across the horizon. The nearby Henry Mountains offer fantastic opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and scenic exploration. Those drawn to water-based activities will appreciate proximity to the Colorado River and Dirty Devil River, which provide options for kayaking, rafting, and fishing throughout the year.

What makes this region particularly special is its combination of accessibility and remoteness. You're close enough to enjoy modern conveniences in town, yet far enough away to experience genuine solitude and natural beauty. The area appeals to a wide range of travelers including photographers who come to capture the stunning landscape during golden hour, outdoor enthusiasts seeking mountain biking and hiking adventures, and families looking to explore Utah's natural parks and monuments.

The distinctive slickrock landscape that gives the campground its name is characteristic of the region and provides a unique backdrop for your camping experience. This reddish, smooth rock formation creates a memorable environment unlike traditional campgrounds found elsewhere. The terrain tells geological stories spanning millions of years, offering curious travelers a chance to connect with the Earth's ancient past.

Whether you're planning an extended stay to thoroughly explore the region or a quick stop on a larger Utah tour, this location provides an ideal staging ground. The relatively quiet town of Hanksville offers essential services and supplies while maintaining the authentic character of a small desert community. Sunrise and sunset in this area are particularly spectacular, with colors painting the rocks in brilliant shades of orange, red, and purple that change throughout the day.

Great place to stay and enjoy the area. Spent three nights, the cabins are clean and efficient. Good restaurant on site with a very friendly staff. Lots of amenities for the location. Planning another trip to the area in the spring!

The gentleman at the front desk was very kind, check-in was easy, and I was grateful to have a pet friendly place to stay. The cabin itself was beautiful, very clean, and the beds were comfortable. The campground shower building next door was also very clean, though I would have preferred not needing to use it. The main drawback was the shower situation in the cabin. It has a 10-gallon hot water... The gentleman at the front desk was very kind, check-in was easy, and I was grateful to have a pet friendly place to stay. Didn't stay for the night. Popped by in the morning for a super clean hot shower and laundry. 10/10 would shower again. Excellent heated private shower room. $12 for a shower. $4.50/wash and $3.50/dry. A little on the pricey side but plenty of machines and they take card. Very nice to get both done at the same place. Would recommend! If the rooms are as nice as the showers, you're all good to stay... Didn't stay for the night. My husband and I were passing through town and wanted to stop. It was a special night for us. I was leery to stay in a room in a RV park, but the “luxury cabins” sign caught my eye. We were so delighted we stopped to check it out. Our cabin was cozy, the beds and pillows super comfy, the AC worked, there was a ceiling fan, and the room/bathroom was immaculate. You could park just outside your doo... My husband and I were passing through town and wanted to stop. It was a special night for us. We have “starred” this location for next time we travel through Utah!

We are coming back! Duke’s was wonderful. I have never been to a campground that felt this luxurious. We came for a visit to goblin valley and some slot canyons and the joy of a luxurious hot shower can’t be beat! Customer service was terrific, and they even brought us an extra fire ring when all of the visible ones were in use. We used a tent trailer and really enjoyed the whole place!
