Salt Lake City is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
Utah weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for Salt Lake City.

I think this KOA deserves a little better than a 4.0. The location is fantastic. It’s right next to the fairgrounds, it’s on the light rail, about a mile from Temple Square and the airport. The grounds look well maintained. Good pavement, nicely trimmed trees. There are two types of customers, the full-timers and the transients. It’s right next to the fairgrounds, it’s on the light rail, about a mile from Temple Square and the airport. The grounds look well maintained. Good pavement, nicely trimmed trees. There are two types of customers, the full-timers and the transients. They have most of the full-timers on the perimeter in back-in sites. The bathrooms are clean as can be, and probably above par relative to your average KOA. Lightly used off-season, but I would worry about the “butt to seat ratio” during prime vacation time or events. It’s city water, which means it’s soft, good tasting and high pressure. Pounding hot showers in the bathrooms! I’m going 4 instead of 5 for the following reason. They have a loss-leader type of site called an “end site”. Too short for anything long, but perfect for a van or truck camper. You open out to the campground main road, but you’re not in an RV canyon. The worst site in the park is 11, and that’s what they assigned. Almost no transients, wide open, and that’s where they put us? We asked nice and they moved us back to 31 and it was fine. Many of the negative reviews talk about it being a sketchy area and seeing lots of homeless folks. Yes it’s urban, but I felt no unusual security risk. They do have 24 hour onsite staff and in late Feb there were zero homeless folks in the area.

I stayed with my wife in one of the Deluxe Cabins for the first time this December. We were very impressed with the accommodations in the deluxe cabin with linens for the queen size bad. Bunk beds in adjoining room were nice even though we did not need it, but provided extra space for us. It had everything you would need with a good coffee maker, ceiling fan, heater, TV, microwave, refrigerator, lights over the beds to red, outlets everywhere, a nice shower with spray head on a hose, utensils galore for the kitchen, plates, cups, glasses and a barbecue set for the barbecue outside. They also had a real nice fire pit outside with glass for the burning. Nice swing outside. End result is even though the deluxe is more expensive then the regular cabin, it is well worth the price and KOA is consistent with their quality. I don't stay in motels or hotels when just spending the night while we are traveling because the quality is inconsistent and you don't get the amenities that is provided in these deluxe cabins.

Nice campground close to downtown. The neighborhood is cleaned up a lot compared to what it was when we lived in SLC several years ago. For those complaining about noise, trains, etc - you picked a park that's literally walking distance to a major metropolitan downtown. Should be common sense its not a back to nature campground. Great Stay at Salt Lake City KOA We had a great stay at the Salt Lake City KOA! The park was clean, well maintained, and easy to navigate. I give the KOA a 5 star because the campground its self is really nice they keep up with maintenance and appearance. The staff was nice and friendly. Out side of the KOA isn't as nice but I lived in SLC before and the city has cleaned up the area alot. Its not the KOA"S fault they do what they can. Its also to note this is a KOA in the middle of a 2 million people city youre going to hear city noi... But if you do the convenience is nice short ride to downtown on the train that is located right outside of the KOA. Id recommended this if going to or through SLC.
