Great Shelter with plenty of campsites for tenting. There are two poles to hang your food bags on. The spring is flowing as of 5/18/22... Enjoy!

Best house keeping I've seen at a shelter in some time. Worthy of an award.

This Appalachian Trail shelter has space for about 6 people. The junction of the AT and the side trail has several official tent sites with space for more than half a dozen tents. A pit privy, spring, and bear pole are located near the shelter.

It's a wonderful group camping site and the section of Appalachian Trail heading up the three ridges is fantastic any time of year.

Note that the hiker hostel "Rusty's Hard Time Hollow" is nearby; he is open to all AT hikers. The hollow is a primitive, 19 acre, back-to-basics Appalachian mountain farm and includes bunk houses, a springhouse, outhouse and rainwater shower. Keep in mind that the hollow is Rusty's home. Donations are appreciated. He also has some free snacks and cold drinks.
