It was so beautiful to be there during the fall and to find an RV Spot that still felt like camping and not just parking in a parking lot. It was stunningly beautiful and the people were all friendly, including the other campers. We enjoyed it immensely. We have a 27 foot bumper pull trailer and our friends have a 30 foot. We had plenty of room for it in our trucks. The lake is stunning and everything is well maintained. The country store is charming and is a place for people from all over who are just passing by. So it is well stocked and has great Wi-Fi for the people staying at the campground.

The camp store is just a short walk away and carries most of the necessities including firewood. There is a lake that you can kayak and fish on. There is no parking that I could find down near the lake though, so we had to drop off our kayaks at the water and then go back and park the truck at the cabin again. There is no cellphone service out there. They do have wifi located in the playground area and it doesn't reach any of the cabins, but, really, I think you can handle a few days off the grid. We enjoyed ourselves!

We've been going to Montebello campground for several years. It's one of our favorite mountain spots close to home. Its about 3 hours from the peninsula area of Virginia. The campground is very near Crabtree Falls which is definitely worth a hike if you haven't been. Ask the locals at the camp store for the other great fall overlook, but requires a 4WD vehicle, although gorgeous and worth it! There is also an Appalachian Trail entry point nearby as well if that's your jam. The grounds are well kept, all the amenities, W/E/S. The bath house is always clean and well lit. They have a stocked trout pond and a spacious camp store (WE MISS THE CAFE). We've also stayed in the cabins and LOVE them. If you're looking for a gorgeous mountain getaway this is the place to go.

Grew up in these mountains and love coming home for vacation now that I live in NoVA. Coming to camp at Montebello restores my soul and brings peace back to my heart. Montebello campground may be rustic and "out of the way" but it is peaceful and relaxing. It's a safe campground where my brothers and I grew up, and now my son and niece and nephews get to grow up here. The staff at the store are a second family, and the camp hosts are always friendly. The facilities are clean, and the camp hosts are quick to act when attention is needed. The lake is clean and the fishing is always good. The pay pond at the store is stocked with good sized trout. There are hiking trails in the campground as well as close by. There are swimming and fishing opportunities up and down the mountain, and the parkway is a quick 5 minute drive away. I've enjoyed almost 30 years of camping here along with my family, and look forward to another 30 and then some. Looking forward to checking out one of the 6(?) Cabins they have available. Thanks Montebello for being there when I need to come home and reconnect with my roots.

Very quiet and secluded. Great camp host and nice little store. Curvy road getting there, but the proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway is terrific! Weekly rates are super cheap for fhu.
