About Bowman Bay Campground

Campground in Washington.

Bowman Bay Campground sits in one of Washington's most picturesque coastal settings, offering RV travelers an authentic Pacific Northwest experience wrapped in natural beauty. Located within Deception Pass State Park, this public campground provides direct access to some of the region's most stunning landscapes, where towering evergreens meet dramatic shorelines and the air carries the salt-tinged freshness of Puget Sound.

The area surrounding Bowman Bay is a nature lover's paradise. The campground itself sits adjacent to pristine beaches where tide pools reveal starfish, anemones, and other fascinating marine creatures during low tide. Hiking trails wind through old-growth forests and along cliff edges, offering breathtaking vistas of the San Juan Islands and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. These trails range from easy waterfront walks to more challenging upland routes, making the area appealing whether you're looking for a leisurely stroll or a more vigorous outdoor adventure.

Deception Pass, the narrow waterway that gives the park its name, is famous for its dramatic tidal currents and stunning bridge views. The pass creates a unique natural phenomenon that RV travelers and outdoor enthusiasts find endlessly fascinating. Photography opportunities abound throughout the area, from sunrise over the water to dramatic cloud formations rolling across the forested landscape.

The nearby town of Oak Harbor provides all necessary services and supplies, ensuring you won't lack for groceries, fuel, or other essentials during your stay. The community offers local restaurants and shops that reflect the character of this maritime region. For those interested in exploring further afield, the San Juan Islands are accessible by ferry, offering day trip possibilities to charming island communities.

This location appeals to nature enthusiasts, photographers, families seeking outdoor education, and anyone drawn to the rugged beauty of Washington's northern coast. Whether you're an avid hiker, a tidepool explorer, or simply someone who finds peace in coastal forests and ocean vistas, Bowman Bay Campground provides an ideal base for experiencing one of the Pacific Northwest's most remarkable natural areas.

One of my favorite places on earth... There's so many cool spots to explore from there & walk/hike to. Like beaches. And island like areas with wild rabbits & thrilling high cliff edges dropping down to the swirling water. And seals swim through there a lot. It's magical. I made a painting from one of my photos & it's my favorite because of all the memories there...

Clean. Nice camping areas. Water and clean bathrooms. Hiked from Bowman to Lottie Point loop. Walked through green kelp on part of the beach. All in all, a lovely walk. Two little kids and two grandmas made it ok. The views from the top were really beautiful. Watch kids near the cliff edges.

This is a great section of Deception Pass State Park. It is a coast section on the north end of the park. There is a rocky beach and long dock. There is a trail to Rosario Head and a camping area. There is a large parking area and plenty of out buildings, picnic areas, and restrooms. There are beautiful views of the surrounding areas from the trail to Rosario Head.

Most beautiful spot in the state of Washington! This is a great spot for a hike or to kayak. You can definitely find some calm water in the summer and explore the tide pools or all the waterfowl.
