Everything was damp, and the weather was chilly. It didn't make much sense to now allow campfires. I understand it was due to the fires in the nearby area, but literally everything was soaking wet at our campsite. When the weather was calm, the lake was as smooth as glass. Once the rain storm was heading in, the water was choppy (shown in photos).

I had to book this 6 months in advance as soon as it became available online, which is always a challenge when camping in WA state. We stayed in camp site #5 right next to the water. We stayed in camp site #5 right next to the water. This campground is incredible and we got so lucky to be by the water with easy access for our 2 kayaks. We were careful to use the bear boxes for our food. The campsites near the water are very close to each other, but it wasn't an issue and our neighbors were all very friendly. There was a fire ban at the end of July when we were there. You can expect no cell service, some wind during the day on the lake, no showers, and clean restrooms. Do note that the main road is right near by and you can hear cars and trucks going by during the day. At night it is fairly quiet though. We absolutely loved how stunning it is here and how we had access to hiking and a day trip to Winthrop!

Colonial Creek is a great campground! The campground is divided between north and south. The south side is more popular and has water front camping. Expect it to be louder and busier. The north side is more secluded in the woods and has much less traffic. You'll be able to access restrooms and the Thunder Knob Trail much easier. In any case, it's a great campground.

This is a very popular campsite in the North Cascades. The campground is divided into north and south sides, where the north side is much smaller in terms of the number of places. The advantage of this campground is its close proximity to the beach of Lake Diablo. We stopped near the Thunder Creek trail, which is located not far from the lake.

Was a nice and quiet campsite even though near the road. No cell service, no electric. No showers, no hot watee. They have flush tolits. no paper towels or hand dryer in the bathroom so bring a towel! There's a creek and a lake nearby. Size and privacy of campsites were good.
