About Hoh River Dispersed Camping

Campground in Washington.

Nestled in the heart of Washington's Olympic Peninsula, Hoh River Dispersed Camping offers a authentic wilderness experience for RV travelers seeking to escape the beaten path. This public campground provides access to one of the Pacific Northwest's most iconic natural areas, where ancient temperate rainforests meet pristine river valleys and rugged mountain peaks.

The Hoh River area is renowned for its dramatic landscape and ecological significance. Towering Sitka spruces and western red cedars create a cathedral-like canopy overhead, while the sounds of the Hoh River provide a constant, soothing soundtrack to your stay. The region experiences significant rainfall, particularly in fall and winter, which maintains the lush vegetation and creates an emerald wonderland that feels like stepping into another world entirely.

For outdoor enthusiasts, this location is a gateway to extraordinary adventures. Hikers can access the famous Hoh River Trail, a 17.3-mile route that follows the river through the rainforest and ascends toward the Blue Glacier on Mount Olympus, the highest peak in the Olympic Range. Even shorter day hikes reveal cascading waterfalls, moss-covered trees, and wildlife viewing opportunities. Anglers find excellent steelhead and salmon fishing in the Hoh River, particularly during seasonal runs. Wildlife watchers should keep their eyes open for Roosevelt elk, black bears, and numerous bird species that call this area home.

The dispersed camping nature of this area means you'll experience solitude and tranquility that developed campgrounds cannot match. You're close enough to small towns like Forks for supplies and services, yet far enough removed to feel genuinely remote. The experience appeals to RV campers who value independence, natural beauty, and adventure over developed amenities.

Whether you're planning extended hiking expeditions, seeking creative inspiration in nature's cathedral, or simply wanting to disconnect and recharge, Hoh River Dispersed Camping delivers an unforgettable Pacific Northwest experience that showcases why this region captivates travelers from around the world.

If you want solitude and quiet then this is a great campground to go to. Its beautiful and along the river so you get great views. It has only seven campgrounds I believe so it's obviously alot less populated then the more popular campgrounds further into the park while still maintaining the same majesty. I would highly recommend this campsite.

Small dispersed campground with a dozen or so spots, some with picnic tables and fire pits and a small seasonal bathroom is on site. Beautiful and peaceful area on the Hoh River, boat launch is usually not crowded. WA State Discover Pass or small fee for day use required.
