06.23.2023 This was easily my favorite hike, and the most intense I've done. It is well worth it, if your body and mind are up to it. I would consider this to be a hard trail. I would consider this to be a hard trail. I made it 5.5 miles in, which is only about halfway. I reached a maximum elevation of 5400 feet, which is a gain of about 3500 feet from the beginning of the trail. Most of the elevation gained was in about 2.5 miles, and kept my pace very low. After getting past 5000 feet, the trail starts to ease up, and eventually runs horizontal across a ridge. This is when you start to get some killer views of the surrounding peaks. At about 4 miles, it bumps over the ridge and changes direction. This part took me thru more meadows than trees. The slope was very steep, and the traversing trail was well beaten to cross the slopes. On this day, I encountered a few snowy glades that were very easy to pass, and gave my dogs a spot to cool off and play around. There are many cascading creeks, and plenty of exposed rocks. The views from 4 to 5.5 miles are the best I've ever seen. It was so cool to be in an open space, that high and deep in the woods.

A nice easy trail where you will see some giant cedars. The trail also goes to the river. Easy to do with magnificent trees
