It is rustic and wonderful for those with horses. There are places to tie up your steeds and stairs to help you mount. There's even a gravel ramp for handicapped access to your horse. I would recommend the person in charge of group camping checks their email and phone messages more often. We have 4 families that wanted to make the group reservations but there was never any response. Then there was a couple with their son locking a gate to the group area Friday night. They said it was for reservations only but didn't or wouldn't assist us in procurement of said reservations. It was very busy. A few camp spots were left open, but only if you had horses with you camping. Go a day early just in case you don't have a horse to give you more options.

I hope the camp host has changed since I tried to camp there last. Reserving a spot can take up to two days for it to happen. I didn't reserve a spot (didn't know they had switched from first-come, first-serve), and they kicked me out even though the whole camp only had two other camp spots taken. At first I was told I could go ahead and stay two nights since they weren't going to be full until later in the week. I set up camp, went riding, and came back to a $100 warning ticket. When I talked to them again, the camp host was downright mean about it. I never got mad. I was just confused and hurt. There is no cell service to reserve once you're there, so it was a total waste of time to drive there. The website says it requires a minimum of 3 days notice to reserve. Despite it being dark when I finally got packed back up to leave and camp still empty, they never let me stay. I enjoy the many different loops there, as I have camped there prior to this whole on-line reservation system. You can make it as easy or as hard as you want. There are bear there, so just be aware of that.

Very well maintained camp ground with plenty of room to highline horses. Clean bathroom and water for the horses if you didn't bring any. It rained while I was there so didn't get a chance to really hit the trails but the ones I did go on were well marked and maintained. Lots of gunfire from the grave pit that is close by so make sure your horses are okay with that.

Very Nice Horse camp facility. We go up camping a few times a year. Sometimes we go up for the day. The trails are really nice. You can go for a short ride or go all day. Yup, I'll love the place.
