We stayed at the Thousand trails Oceana campground. It offers some RV sites with full hookups. There is a short trail to the beach. The staff kept everything clean and beautiful. The mosquitos were very bad. We had to go into town to buy bug repellent. We had so much fun on the beach watching the tides. Our dog loved running free and playing in the water.

I stopped here to make lunch and parking by the beach was spectacular! It’s very clean and there’s lots of space. I did get a little stuck in the sand trying to turn around, be careful heading down in larger vehicles as there’s no turn around at the end of the hard packed sand trail.

A Favorite Family Camping Spot by the Ocean Our family loved camping at South Beach Campground! It quickly became one of our favorite places to camp—mostly because of its unbeatable proximity to the beach. There’s nothing quite like falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves and waking up to stunning ocean views just steps from your site. We especially enjoyed sitting at our campsite watching sea otters playfully swim by and pods of porpoises glide through the surf. It felt like we had a front-row seat to the wonders of the Pacific Ocean. That said, expectations are everything. This campground is basically a large, open parking lot on the edge of a bluff overlooking the water. There are no hookups, and little to no privacy between sites. There is a set of flush toilets, but they can be smelly, and there are no sinks or running water available for campers. We had to drive several miles up the road to another campground to fill our water containers—so come prepared. All sites are first-come, first-served and often fill up quickly, especially in the summer. But if you’re looking for a rugged, no-frills, oceanfront camping experience with incredible wildlife and views, South Beach is hard to beat. We’ll definitely be back!

Such a beautiful peaceful natural area. It's beautiful to watch all the changes throughout the seasons. The only thing I hate to see is the clueless dog owners who don't pick up their dogs waist. They have no idea they are poisoning the very place they came to enjoy. Thanks to the majority who are picking up after their dogs.

Beautiful place. Miles of gorgeous beach. Space to fly kits, search for treasures, play in the sand and sand dunes, and even wade. Of course some people also fish and dig for clams. So much fun!

It's a good spot to camp while exploring the area. A little bit of a challenge climbing over all the drift wood just to walk on the beach . But you have a bit of dead grass and fire pit and table on one side, and dirt road on the other. We had two small dogs with us, so we moved to a spot behind the restroom. It was like an alcove, more dead grass with no dirt road to worry about. Also major block from the strong winds coming in. No matter where you park you can really hear the roar of the ocean. Do your best to get there early to find a spot for yourself.

I got there at closing. So I didn't get to see much of it. But it is definitely worth the trip back from Tacoma to explore and enjoy the rest of it. FYI there is no fishing allowed.😉

South Beach Campground is located in the Olympic National Park. The campground is well maintained for tent and RV camping. No running water and electricity. Each camp site has a beautiful view of the ocean. The cost per night is $20.00. I highly recommend camping at South Beach Campground. Address: Forks, WA 98331
