Among the most beautiful places to backpack in this state! Moderate/hard hike up the mountain, it’s the hike down to the lake that got me, but don’t let it dissuade you… it is so worth it. Only 3 camp spots and you need to get the reservation at the ranger station day or two in advance. Just paradise.

Fantastic hike up to a gorgeous lake. Steep trail down to campsites but still doable, particularly if you have poles. Saw a black bear with two cubs along the shore. Sites were well flattened and easy to access.

BEWARE the road getting to the trailhead. A two wheel drive vehicle in front of us had to turn around for LACKof TRACTION and GROUND CLEARANCE.
