About Vantage Camping Site

Campground in Washington.

Vantage Camping Site offers a unique Washington camping experience in a region known for its striking geological formations and outdoor recreation opportunities. Located in central Washington, this public campground provides an excellent base for exploring the Columbia River Gorge area and the surrounding high desert landscape that draws visitors from across the Pacific Northwest.

The camping area sits in a region rich with natural and geological interest. The distinctive basalt formations and dramatic landscape create an almost otherworldly setting that geology enthusiasts and nature photographers find particularly compelling. The area's geology tells the story of ancient lava flows and the powerful forces that shaped the Pacific Northwest, making it an educational destination as well as a scenic one.

For water enthusiasts, the proximity to the Columbia River opens up opportunities for boating, fishing, and water activities. The river has been central to the region's history and continues to be a focal point for recreation. Anglers appreciate the fishing opportunities available in the area, while those seeking water-based adventures will find plenty to explore. The combination of river access and high desert terrain creates a diverse outdoor playground.

The campground itself serves as an ideal jumping-off point for exploring central Washington's natural attractions. The nearby Ginkgo Petrified Forest offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient ecosystems, while hiking trails throughout the region provide varying levels of challenge and scenic rewards. Bird watchers and wildlife observers appreciate the diverse ecosystem that thrives in this transitional zone between forest and desert environments.

The high desert climate means relatively mild weather for much of the year, with sunny days that are ideal for outdoor activities. The area's lower elevation compared to mountain destinations makes it accessible during shoulder seasons when other campgrounds might still be closed. This makes Vantage Camping Site particularly appealing for spring and fall camping trips.

Whether you're a geology buff, outdoor adventurer, angler, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat in a distinctive landscape, this camping area provides a memorable Washington experience with convenient access to both natural wonders and recreational opportunities.

$85 for a riverfront site for a single night where all the hookups are not located in the correct place… arrived after driving all day to realize the river sites are across the street and not the Rv parks actual address online (just a hassle to turn around when you have a 40 ft motorhome and you’re ready to just park and be done for the day) Also giant sprinklers all around our site when we arrive... $85 for a riverfront site for a single night where all the hookups are not located in the correct place… arrived after driving all day to realize the river sites are across the street and not the Rv parks actual address online (just a hassle to turn around when you have a 40 ft motorhome and you’re ready to just park and be done for the day) Also giant sprinklers all around our site when we arrived and no one around to turn them off so my husband had to before we could attempt to park. Just not what you’d expect for the price tag. Also it’s right next to a waste water treatment facility 💩🙃 also bc the sites aren’t actually in the Rv park… literally anyone can walk right up to your Rv from the very public area/boat launch right next door. There’s even public paths right in front of your RV. Feels more like a hipcamp than an RV park. Once again wouldn’t be so annoyed if it wasn’t $85.

Very easy process to book online. Easy to locate right off I-90 in the town of Vantage. 36 miles west of Moses Lake and 25 miles east of Ellensburg. Friendly staff, clean and affordable rooms. It was quiet and my wife and I were left alone unless we needed something. I recommend staying here to anyone that travels I-90

I dont usually give bad reviews and look for the positives but Iam giving this place 3 stars because it has hooks ups and offers an over night stay. Don’t get your expectations up here as it appears to have a chevron coffee shop and general store. The lady is very nice and friendly but can’t do everything on her own. It’s not very big rig friendly only 30 amps but we managed in our 40 ft motorhome sites are tight with trees. It’s worth 25 bucks but certainly not what they’re charging which I think is 60 something.

Stayed here while working in the area. Beautiful place, mature trees, grass, playground, on site laundry and a gas station. I did not stay in the rooms, so I can not review them. There is also a burger joint that just opened as I was leaving so I can't give a good evaluation of that, but it looked like a nice little place. Staff at the park are friendly and always helpful. I have used Riverstone several times. No matter the time Charlotte checks me into a very clean and comfortable room. One time, the big horn sheep were all over the place grazing in the fields adjacent to the town limits. I will be back.
