About Falls Creek

Federal campground in Washington.

Nestled in the heart of Washington's stunning national forest landscape, Falls Creek offers RV campers an authentic escape into the Pacific Northwest wilderness. This national forest campground provides the perfect basecamp for those seeking to reconnect with nature while enjoying the comfort of their RV home on wheels.

The setting here is truly special. Towering evergreens create a cathedral-like canopy overhead, filtering sunlight into dappled patterns across your campsite. The sound of rushing water echoes through the forest, creating a naturally soothing soundtrack to your stay. The air carries that crisp, clean scent unique to old-growth forests, and mornings often arrive wrapped in mist that burns away to reveal clear blue skies.

This location appeals to a wonderfully diverse group of outdoor enthusiasts. Hikers will find themselves in paradise, with numerous trails branching out from the campground ranging from gentle forest walks to more challenging alpine adventures. The creek itself invites exploration, whether you're interested in fishing, photography, or simply sitting beside the water with a good book. Families appreciate the relatively sheltered environment and the opportunity to teach children about forest ecosystems and outdoor skills in a manageable setting.

The surrounding national forest provides endless opportunities for discovery. Wildlife viewing is common here, and patient observers may spot deer, elk, or numerous bird species. The dramatic topography of the Cascades shapes everything from weather patterns to the types of vegetation you'll encounter. Seasonal changes are particularly dramatic in this region, with each time of year offering distinct advantages for different types of camping experiences.

Being situated in a national forest setting means you're removed from the hustle of developed tourist areas, yet still reasonably accessible. The nearest towns offer supplies and services when needed, striking that ideal balance between wilderness immersion and practical convenience. This is the kind of place where cell service might be spotty, and that's precisely why many people come here. It's about trading connectivity for tranquility, noise for natural soundscapes, and screens for starlit skies that rival few other places in the region.

We were driving the scenic 20 to the west side, disappointed it was closed past Winthrop, and had to make new plans. This place was an amazing happy accident! We felt lucky we ended up here. It was dreamy, and we couldn't have planned a better weekend getaway. We spent hours taking in the beauty of the waterfalls. Easy to get to, and we only saw two other people.

We only drove through the campground and used one of the 2 nice men's/women's outhouses. It was right next to the river. It looked like you would need to bring your own water. It was right next to the river. It looked like you would need to bring your own water. Campsites were very spacious. We actually came to see the falls. The trailhead was just across the street from the 1st entrance of the campground. The sign was very small and we missed seeing it right at first. It was a very short and easy hike to the first falls. We didn't venture up any further to the other falls because my husband had a weak ankle and didn't want to chance twisting it on the rocky, steep, switchback tail. Lots of evidence of past forest fire. Flash flooding can happen if heavy rain hits.

Such a peaceful little place just right off the road. Enjoy a nice paved path for handicap access all the way up to the base of the waterfall. It's an absolutely gorgeous to see in the spring and summer time during the heavy runoff and enjoying the cool mist of mountain fresh water!!

If you want to beat the summer heat in Winthrop, drive a few miles out of town, and walk this lovely, easy trail. The waterfall is beautiful, the air is moist and refreshing.
