Wonderful 2 mile hike around Spider Lake. Waterfalls, bridges and stunning views of the lake. Quite a slow winding drive to get there. No bathroom at trailhead. It was starting to get dark by the time we arrived, so we only went down part of the path and then turned around. It is a beautiful area, and it was quite the adventure getting there from the south side by taking lesser traveled forest roads. The kids agree, though, that we will head back during summer to explore the whole loop trail.

We have been to spider lake before. This spot on google maps is different than the trail head we took last time. If you want to get straight down to the lake keep on the road a little farther. Great little hike!

This has the quintessential qualities of a Washington temperate rainforest. Green everywhere. Moss everywhere. Quiet pathway from the thousands of evergreen needles decaying on the ground. The roads were more potholed than I would have liked. The forest road could take you on a loop out another side of the forests, so you don't have to backtrack if you didn't want to.

The trail you take from the road is pretty easy, when I went there were a few ferns growing over the path, recommend long pants/leggings. Very little to no incline. Instead of taking the full loop, took the right trail and not even a mile into the hike got immediate lake access, but be careful going down, the rocks/dirt is very loose. Recommend water shoes in case you wanna go in, saw some fishing... Recommend water shoes in case you wanna go in, saw some fishing lures in nearby trees that were hanging over the lake. Saw a mother duck and her ducklings and some fish jumping too! Hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
