About Upper Snowy Lake

Campground in Washington.

Nestled in the heart of Washington's pristine national forest landscape, Upper Snowy Lake offers RV campers an authentic escape into the Pacific Northwest wilderness. This national forest gem provides an ideal base for travelers seeking solitude, natural beauty, and outdoor adventure without sacrificing basic camping comforts.

The setting here is nothing short of spectacular. Upper Snowy Lake sits surrounded by towering evergreens and dramatic mountain vistas, creating an atmosphere that feels genuinely remote while remaining accessible for RV travel. The lake itself is the centerpiece of the experience, offering stunning views that shift throughout the day as sunlight plays across the water and reflects off surrounding peaks. Early mornings bring a peaceful mist rising from the surface, while evenings deliver golden hour light that photographers and nature lovers will treasure.

For those planning their visit, it's important to know that this is a national forest setting, which means you're camping in a more rustic environment compared to commercial RV parks. The trade-off is worthwhile for travelers who prioritize natural surroundings and tranquility over developed amenities. The location appeals to a wide range of visitors: anglers seeking quality fishing opportunities in mountain lakes, hikers wanting access to forest trails, families looking to disconnect and reconnect with nature, and anyone interested in experiencing the authentic Washington backcountry.

The surrounding national forest area offers numerous recreational opportunities. Hiking trails wind through the forest, offering everything from easy walks to more challenging day hikes with rewarding viewpoints. Wildlife viewing is excellent, with opportunities to spot deer, elk, and various bird species throughout the seasons. The cleaner air and darker skies away from urban areas make this a wonderful spot for stargazing on clear nights.

The lake itself invites exploration and relaxation. Whether you enjoy fishing, paddling, or simply sitting by the water watching the light change across the surface, there's something restorative about spending time on the shore. The forest ecology here is fascinating, with different tree species at different elevations creating a rich natural environment.

Upper Snowy Lake appeals especially to experienced RV campers who appreciate national forest camping and don't require full hookups or extensive developed facilities. It's perfect for those wanting to experience the true Pacific Northwest landscape, unwind from busy schedules, and immerse themselves in nature's rhythms.

Love this place. It is very relaxing and nice. I love looking out my living room windows at the Snake river! The management takes immaculate care of the park, and it shows. The paved trails along the river are amazing!
