About American Sunset RV & Tent Resort

Campground in Washington.

American Sunset RV & Tent Resort in Westport, Washington offers the perfect basecamp for exploring one of the Pacific Northwest's most charming coastal communities. Located at 1209 Montesano Street, this resort welcomes both RV travelers and tent campers, making it an ideal destination for families, couples, and solo adventurers looking to experience authentic coastal living.

Westport sits on the Grays Harbor Peninsula, where the natural beauty of Washington's coast unfolds in dramatic fashion. The town is renowned as a working fishing village, and visitors can experience this vibrant maritime heritage firsthand. Stroll through the working docks where fishing boats bring in their daily catches, watch seagulls wheel overhead, and breathe in the salt air that defines this corner of the Pacific. The working waterfront provides authentic photo opportunities and a genuine glimpse into how many Washington communities sustain themselves through ocean resources.

Beyond the waterfront, Westport serves as an excellent launching point for outdoor adventures. Hiking enthusiasts will find numerous trails in the surrounding forests and coastal areas, offering everything from easy nature walks to more challenging backcountry experiences. The nearby beaches provide opportunities for beachcombing, where tide pools reveal colorful sea stars, anemones, and other marine life. Wildlife viewing is exceptional in this region, with opportunities to spot bald eagles, deer, and a variety of seabirds.

The area surrounding Westport is rich with natural attractions. Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge sits nearby, a sanctuary for migratory birds that draws birders from across the region. The refuge is particularly spectacular during spring and fall migrations when thousands of shorebirds stop to rest and refuel. Even casual nature lovers will find the wildlife viewing rewarding year-round.

For those interested in local culture and dining, Westport's restaurants and markets showcase fresh seafood that's been pulled from these very waters. Local establishments offer everything from casual fish and chips to more upscale seafood preparations. The community maintains a small-town charm that many RV travelers seek, with friendly locals eager to share recommendations about their beloved hometown.

American Sunset RV & Tent Resort provides the perfect home base for experiencing this coastal lifestyle without sacrificing comfort. Whether you're planning a weekend escape from Portland or Seattle, a longer coastal exploration, or a place to settle in and truly unwind, this resort offers access to everything that makes Westport special. The location allows you to wake up near the ocean, explore the working waterfront, and experience the genuine Pacific Northwest coastal atmosphere that has drawn visitors to this region for generations.

This place is so beautiful, very clean and the positive energy of the employees is amazing. At first, she said very serious “How I can help you”, but when I started talking, she give me a great smile. Like Darla, her assistant, who have spoiled my dog, and Chuck and Stephanie that keep all very beautiful and clean. All of them have a great smile always no matter the weather or how them feel. Bathroom and showers clean. Laundry room clean. I tell to my daughter today my surprise that they no have many place designated for trash, you need walk to the place they have the trash can, but at the same time, i notice that help to keep the place clean. You can find bag for dog 💩 at the office/store in a basket 🧺 at the entrance. And of course with all are happening with Latin today, for me was a relief. I’m not have racist problem, because i didn’t take personal and I know who have the problem with their own heart it’s the racist person, and either immigration problems, I am American because I born in PR and we are USA territory. But many people still ignorant of that and it’s hard and sad. However, I feel welcome and in peace here. And the best moment here is at the afternoon when the deers 🦌 wait for “Snow white” for feed them. Is the most beautiful and exciting moment ever. Look at them walk around her place, wait for her take the food and follow her to the forest. We are walk distance to the sunrise and the sunset because we are between the sun and the moon, between the river and the sea. Walk distance to the port and the sea lions🦭. I hear them from my bed. Walk distance to a great pizza place. Grocery and restaurants. For me, because I am autistic with OCD, it’s hard find a place I feel confident enough to enjoy. And because sometimes I wake up with panic attacks and need walk outside, one of the most important things is the cleaning and the security. For that I can resume this, I feel comfortable walking around in any time, and safe, inclusive in the middle of the night when I am the only person outside. Mary have good eyes and sense for get the energy of the people. She knows her business. I trained manager for more than 30 years and the service clients was a nightmare. But here have a great staff, with great facilities and great atmosphere. I feel in my hometown in many ways, close to the beach, smiley faces, friendly and the best “good morning” “have a good day”. No matter what happen, I am fine and resilient. People here too. I want my kids come here with my grandkids because is a great place for recharge. 💯% recommend.

This is a pretty RV park very close to the ocean & local marina with lots of trees & cool ocean breezes. They offer full hookups, big & small rig spaces. It has lots of beautiful tent spaces under tall pine trees. We saw a family of deer that roam on the huge grass field & through the area. The park is pet friendly, but state law says that pets must be on a leash at all times or you can be fined.... The park is pet friendly, but state law says that pets must be on a leash at all times or you can be fined. They have a small laundry room with 3 washers & dryers, a bathroom, showers & a small heated pool in summer. We really enjoyed our stay in July when daytime temps were in the low to upper 60s & lows in the low 50s. The only drawback was that since it was summer, the park was pretty full & trailer spaces are very narrow. We could hear our neighbor's conversations & laughter until late that evening like they were inside our RV, although the park has an issued "Quiet Time" from 10 pm to 8 am. But that's camping in an RV park, I guess.

Been there last weekend 2/13-2/15 for the first time and will definitely come back for more. Quiet area close to the ocean and shopping area. Friendly staff (at least we didn’t had any issues with them). Check this place out for yourself. Full hook ups. Decent prices.

Visiting from Nevada, this little place became Home (Far Away) from Home, even though we only got to stay less than a week (had booked the month) unfortunately we're here for crab season and needed to move to another town/City yet again, but felt I needed to leave this review as this place is pretty special 🙂 From the location (close to the docks, fishing boats & cute little store fronts) to the lush greenery..to the wildlife! You WILL see deer DAILY here. Every day between 3pm-4pm they start emerging from the trees! The community is very serene and quiet, well maintained and clean! 😇 The bathrooms and laundry room are ONLY accessible with numerical lock combinations provided to Residents-guests so I felt really safe at any time of the day and night and are always kept clean & warm! (HUGE plus!) I want to give a big shout out to Mrs. Mary & Mr. Mel in the office..💯THANK YOU🙏🏻 we GREATLY appreciated the stay, the chats-advice and we and our boys (dogs) ESPECIALLY Thank you for the blankets you gifted us! 🙏🏻 Definitely helped keep us warmer! I didn't get to meet everyone, but those I got to chat with in the office were ALL very kind and friendly. Also in their office they sell supplies and even have books, movies and board games you could use/borrow. They also offer clam digging! Which I truly wanted to experience with my partner but being a fishermen..we HAD TO leave for the next town. Bottom line...I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place 💯! As long as you are clean, respectful, clean up after your dog's & keep them leashed, and respect the 5MPH rule...All is great here! Forgot to take a picture but there's also a playground for children, walking trails and tent spots for those that don't want or need to rent a full RV-hook up spot. With daily, weekly and monthly rates....What more could you really ask for?! (Provided your vehicle-rig-RV-Camper etc has what you need to stay warm & fed etc for yourself lol) All necessities are met 💯! Thank you everyone at Sunset RV...we really Hope to be back one day! 🙏🏻
