I enjoyed my stay at Big Twin Lake Resort very much. It is a unique property in many ways. I enjoyed my stay at Big Twin Lake Resort very much. It is a unique property in many ways. The place is huge with many of the campsites located in open grassy fields, but plenty of more secluded sites tucked around the perimeter. The sites with hookups are mostly clustered around the office and main bath house. If you venture further out there's a wide variety of dry camping options. Although the area is somewhat developed with private homes surrounding the campground and Big Twin Lake, it still feels somewhat wild with abundant wildlife in the area. I saw a lot of deer and a large variety of waterfowl. Fishing is popular on the small lake. There were lots of boats out and many campers were there specifically for the fishing. With the layout of this property being so extensive and having so much open space, I felt like it might never fill up! There would always be room for another camper. I stayed in the "Benny's Bird's Nest" site which provided a nice view of the lake and a private, somewhat secluded feel away from the inner camp. The online check-in process allowed for easy same-day reservations and I received a follow-up phone call the first evening from the owner checking in to see if everything as OK. I initially reserved two nights and was able to later add a third night in person at the office. The office hours may be minimal outside of the high season. Since much of the campground is situated in large grassy fields, the maintenance staff stays busy watering to keep things green I was visiting the area to mountain bike. Big Twin Lake Resort is located 1.5 miles from one of the access points for the Winthrop Trail, which can then be used to gain access the extensive Sun Mountain trail network. I had two great days of riding and exploring the nearby trails. I was less impressed with the restroom facilities. There are apparently only two showers for the entire facility, located in the main restroom building adjacent to the office. The showers are coin operated, which seems ungenerous in light of the nightly rate of $40 plus tax for dry camping! There is one additional peripheral restroom building further out to serve the outlying campsites. I can't help but think that these two facilities wouldn't be enough when the camp was full, but the facilities were adequate during my stay. The restrooms appeared to be neglected and in need of cleaning. Although the sinks and toilets were mostly clean, the floors were quite dirty and the men's shower was also dirty. The outlying restroom also suffered from structural issues. There was a sticker on one of the men's restroom stalls stating that the building was structurally unsound (I forget the exact wording), but I checked out the exterior of the building and noticed that it was held up with concrete masonry blocks (see photo). This seemed sketchy at best and possibly a building code violation. Combined with the overall dirty and neglected appearance of restroom, it did not provide a pleasant experience. Despite these shortcomings, I appreciated the distinctive nature of the resort and would strongly consider staying there again if I was in the area.

Big Twin Lakes Resort Campground is truly a hidden gem! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. It’s a family-owned campground, and you can really feel the pride and care they put into every detail. The campground is very well maintained — everything from the grounds to the restrooms were spotless. We stayed at one of the RV sites, which had full hookups and plenty of space. There are also cozy cabins available if you’re looking for more of a “home away from home” feel. One of our favorite parts of the stay was the small lake — perfect for a relaxing day of fishing or boating around peacefully. We were thrilled to find out they offer boat rentals too, which made for a peaceful afternoon out on the water. It’s quiet, scenic, and just what we needed to unwind. Whether you’re in an RV, a cabin, or just looking for a peaceful family-friendly spot to enjoy the outdoors, this campground has it all. We’re already planning our next trip back!

This was our first time at Big Twin Lake Resort and we stayed in a cabin. The cabin was exceptionally clean and well-maintained and the view of the lake brilliant, but slightly marred when some RV pulled in between us and the lake. (It was still very nice.) The vibe was chill and we felt safe. No motorized boats or whatnot allowed, I think, on the lake which was lovely. We saw quail, killdeer... The vibe was chill and we felt safe. No motorized boats or whatnot allowed, I think, on the lake which was lovely. We saw quail, killdeer and other birds. Check-in was easy and the bathrooms/shower very clean and, again, well maintained. Wifi was a bit spotty at times but one doesn't really go there to be on screens so it wasn't a bother. The night sky was spectacular! And v close to the Winthrop Rhythm and Blues Fest, which is what brought us. I'd heartily recommend this place!

I love this place! I truly enjoyed my stay in one of the cabins, which offered lovely views overlooking the lake and a porch swing. The cabin is not only cute but comfortable, especially the beds. Inside, you'll find a convenient mini-fridge, microwave, a small table, a full-size bed, and a set of bunk beds. It was an ideal spot for visiting Winthrop🤠

I really don’t want to talk about how awesome this spot was cuz I just don’t want people finding out about it but the location is beautiful, nice big camp sites with huge trees for shade, beautiful view of the lake and hillside, and really clean bathrooms/showers! We had a great stay with no one in the spots around us! We would 100% go back!
