About Cascade Marine Trail - Camano Island State Park

Cascade Marine Trail, campsite for human powered boats. Water year round, in winter at restroom 0.5 mile up the hill.

Nestled on the shores of Camano Island in Washington State, Cascade Marine Trail at Camano Island State Park offers a unique and intimate camping experience for those seeking to connect with the natural beauty of Puget Sound. With just five campsites, this is an exclusive waterfront destination that feels worlds away from crowded commercial campgrounds, making it perfect for travelers who value tranquility and pristine natural surroundings.

Located on the northeastern tip of Camano Island, this marine trail campground provides direct access to the water and spectacular views of the Cascade Mountains in the distance. The park encompasses over 134 acres of mixed forest and shoreline, creating a serene backdrop for your RV adventure. The relatively small number of sites means you'll experience a more peaceful camping environment where you can truly unwind and appreciate the sounds of nature without the noise and bustle typical of larger facilities.

The Puget Sound shoreline is the main attraction here, offering visitors opportunities for beachcombing, kayaking, and water exploration. Camano Island's location makes it an ideal base for exploring the greater Island County area and Snohomish County. The island itself has a rich maritime heritage, and the surrounding waters are home to diverse marine life. Bird watching is exceptional in this region, with opportunities to spot bald eagles, herons, and numerous seabirds throughout the year.

This destination appeals particularly to water enthusiasts, nature photographers, and those seeking a quieter camping experience away from developed areas. The small size and waterfront location make it especially suitable for kayakers and boaters who want to access Puget Sound waters. Families looking for a peaceful retreat in a natural setting will find the intimate atmosphere here refreshing and rejuvenating.

The park's proximity to charming island communities means you can easily venture out for supplies, meals, or additional attractions while maintaining your peaceful home base. Whether you're an experienced RV traveler or someone new to camping, the natural beauty and manageable scale of Cascade Marine Trail make it an accessible and memorable destination.

I've been coming to this state park for over 35 years 🫶 Such a beautiful area filled with tons of wildlife, hiking trails, geocaching, camp sites, an outdoor shower... it's got it all! A must of you're in the area looking for somewhere to spend the day!

This campground has very comfortable sites . The tent sites are leveled and prepared very well. Some places (for example No. 14) are located so that there is a beautiful view of the ocean directly from the tent, from the cliff where the tent camp is located. I was disappointed that the short path from the campground to the beach was closed and we had to take the long path. Firewood is prohibited f... This campground has very comfortable sites . Use to be a friendly place to go to watch the night sky since everywhere else in this state has light pollution… the state park ranger immediately stops and treats you like your a terrorist plotting something evil, chasing you off like it’s his property.. This is an excellent park. There is an interpretive trail with explanations of the woodlands ecosystem, a rocky beach area with fine picnicking, and nice hikes with good elevation changes. Clean restrooms too.

This was a pleasant beach to enjoy. Great views and nice areas to sit. There are brand new bathrooms to use along with a boat launch. It is a place I'd come back to in the future.
