About Rasar State Park Campground

Campground in Washington.

Nestled in the heart of Skagit County, Rasar State Park Campground offers RV travelers a peaceful escape into the natural beauty of northwestern Washington. Located along the scenic Skagit River, this state park provides an ideal basecamp for exploring one of the region's most picturesque areas. The campground sits in a setting that combines river access with towering evergreen forests, creating that quintessential Pacific Northwest atmosphere that draws visitors year-round.

The Skagit River is the true centerpiece of the Rasar experience. Anglers will find excellent opportunities for salmon and steelhead fishing, particularly during seasonal runs when the river comes alive with activity. The river also provides opportunities for kayaking and canoeing, allowing visitors to experience the waterway from a different perspective. Even if fishing isn't your primary interest, simply spending time along the river's edge is a rewarding experience, whether you're watching for wildlife or enjoying the soothing sounds of moving water.

Beyond the immediate campground, the surrounding area offers tremendous appeal for outdoor enthusiasts. The Skagit Valley is renowned for its natural diversity and agricultural heritage. Bird watchers flock to the region, particularly during migration seasons, to spot bald eagles, great blue herons, and numerous other species. The valley's wetlands and river systems create prime habitat for wildlife viewing. Hiking trails wind through nearby forests and along riverbanks, offering options for both casual strollers and more ambitious trekkers.

The proximity to charming small towns like Concrete and Sedro-Woolley means you're never far from local services, restaurants, and shops. These communities maintain that small-town character while offering everything modern travelers need. For those willing to venture slightly further, the North Cascades are within reasonable driving distance, offering some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the Pacific Northwest. The combination of river valley and mountain access makes this location exceptionally versatile for different types of trips.

Rasar State Park appeals to families seeking a relaxed camping experience, couples looking for a quiet riverside retreat, and outdoor enthusiasts wanting easy access to fishing and water activities. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or a longer stay, the park provides a genuine connection to Washington's natural environment.

At one point, we had to pull over on the side of the road with the RV because we couldn’t even see ahead. But we were determined to go, and I’m so glad we did! Despite the rain and wind, the park was absolutely beautiful. There were mushrooms everywhere (you can see them in the pictures), and plenty of peaceful trails to explore. It wasn’t very crowded, which made it even better. The staff on site were super friendly, and everything was clean and well-kept. We’re already planning to come back in the spring or summer so we can take advantage of all the amenities. Even in the middle of a storm, we had a great time. I’d definitely recommend Rasar State Park for your next camping trip!

We stayed in the Coho cabin. It has a bathroom and kitchen area. Really nice campground. Very shady and full of trees. FYI, there's not much privacy between this cabin and the neighboring one. It's a quick walk down to the river. Gorgeous views. We only stay in cabins when we camp and the one constant issue is that the beds are terribly uncomfortable. We bring a full size roll-up mattress. I highly suggest you bring something similar. Even an air mattress. Full size. Other than that, this is by far the nicest state park cabin we've stayed in.

This park is a gem. It has the cleanest bathrooms I've ever encountered at a park, and the trails are very well maintained. This place is so peaceful and beautiful. Mike and the rest of the staff are friendly and do an amazing job keeping everything clean. Many times this is my Sunday drive destination. Check in with the river. Like if we had a good snow pack, are the fish running? I never tire of looking at the mountains and river. The campgrounds are neat and tidy as well as the restrooms. Love this place!
