About Continental Divide

Campground in Wyoming.

Nestled in the high country of Wyoming, Continental Divide Public Campground offers a remote and authentic mountain camping experience for RV enthusiasts seeking solitude and natural beauty. With just twelve sites spread across a scenic landscape, this intimate campground provides the perfect escape from crowded tourist destinations while still offering convenient access to some of Wyoming's most spectacular outdoor attractions.

The campground's location along the Continental Divide creates a unique geographic setting where every raindrop becomes part of either the Atlantic or Pacific watershed. This remarkable positioning means you're camping at one of North America's most significant natural landmarks. The elevation and mountain vistas create crisp, clean air and dramatically clear starry nights that simply cannot be replicated in lower elevation areas. The surrounding terrain showcases typical high country characteristics with dense conifer forests, mountain meadows, and rugged peaks visible from many camping spots.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the location provides exceptional opportunities for hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. The pristine streams and lakes in the surrounding area are home to native trout species, making this an ideal base camp for anglers. Hiking trails of varying difficulty levels access alpine lakes, mountain passes, and panoramic viewpoints. Early morning and evening wildlife viewing often rewards patient observers with sightings of mule deer, elk, and various bird species native to the high mountains.

The intimate twelve-site setup means you'll enjoy a peaceful, uncrowded camping atmosphere while still benefiting from a developed public campground with essential facilities. This size is perfect for those who want to escape the hustle of larger commercial parks without sacrificing basic amenities. The campground attracts a mix of travelers including families seeking mountain adventure, anglers targeting backcountry waters, and outdoor photographers capturing the dramatic Wyoming landscape.

This campground works particularly well for RV campers who appreciate natural settings and don't require extensive commercial services. The remote location means planning ahead for supplies is important, but the tradeoff is a genuine wilderness camping experience with genuine solitude. Whether you're planning a week-long mountain retreat or using it as a base for exploring the greater Wyoming region, Continental Divide delivers authentic high country camping.

One night turned to two due to clean, friendly and peaceful place for us in our truck camper. Well maintained throughout! Best shower and laundry area...small but really nice! Right next to CR28 but quieted down at night...and not that bad during the day. Would definitely stay here again!

Twin Pines was EXACTLY what we needed. Not only is it beautiful and well maintained…the owner/staff were amazing. We had a great time sitting on a beautiful porch looking at beautiful scenery and mountains. Twin Pines is located just a couple miles from the town of Lander. We had a slight camper malfunction and the owner and staff bent over backwards to help us. Hope we get to visit them again soo... Twin Pines was EXACTLY what we needed. I can't speak to the RV spots, but my partner and I spent a pleasant six days in a tent site, sleeping in the back of our truck. The sites are well-shaded, and include fire pits and picnic tables. The bathrooms are well-maintained, and it was nice to have the little lounge on the rare rainy day. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Lander.

It is clean and has pretty views and there are tons of great sights to see in the area if you want to stay more than just a night or two. The sites are easy to get into and the facilities are very nice. On our way home, we suffered from some major engine issues in our RV. The owner, Steve, was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Not only did he allow us to stay as long as needed to sort out the issue, but he also dropped what he was doing and found us a mechanic and all of the parts needed for the repair. He even made a few runs into town for supplies from the Auto parts store. The morning after we rolled in and we're discussing what to do next, said to me "you are very lucky to have landed with good people" and he was exactly correct. The situation would have been far worse without his help. Thank you Steve! PS- please also tell Eli thank you for me!!!

Great place to stay! Owner is VERY nice, welcoming, and helpful. Only downside is that it’s right by the highway with quite a bit of traffic. Also recommend turning off the sign at night so customers can see more stars in the night sky! Thank you for a wonderful time!
