About Granite Creek Campground

Campground in Wyoming.

Granite Creek Campground offers a genuine escape into Wyoming's natural beauty, situated in a region where rugged landscapes and outdoor adventure define the experience. This public campground serves as an ideal basecamp for travelers seeking authentic Rocky Mountain camping without unnecessary frills. The setting provides easy access to some of Wyoming's most compelling outdoor destinations, making it particularly appealing for those who want to maximize their time exploring rather than sitting in an RV park.

The campground's location puts you within reasonable driving distance of multiple recreation areas that draw outdoor enthusiasts from across the country. Fishing opportunities abound in the surrounding waterways, with Granite Creek itself offering chances to land trout and other species depending on the season. The creek gives the campground its character, providing soothing water sounds and a sense of being genuinely immersed in nature rather than simply parked in a developed facility.

Hiking trails in the vicinity range from gentle walks suitable for families to more challenging day hikes for experienced adventurers. The landscape changes dramatically with the seasons, offering wildflower displays in summer, dramatic storm clouds in late afternoon, and crisp mornings where wildlife viewing becomes particularly rewarding. Deer, elk, and various bird species frequent the area, and patient observers often spot wildlife during early morning or evening hours.

The surrounding region appeals to travelers interested in Wyoming's outdoor heritage and mountain scenery. Those who enjoy fishing, hiking, photography, or simply sitting around a campfire taking in starry skies will find plenty to appreciate. The campground works well for families looking to introduce children to camping, as well as for experienced RVers who prefer public lands over private parks. The area attracts visitors year-round, though summer and early fall tend to be the most popular seasons when weather cooperates and outdoor activities are most accessible.

Whether you're planning a week-long adventure or a quick weekend getaway, Granite Creek Campground provides a comfortable base camp with the kind of natural surroundings that remind us why we love RV camping in the first place.

The campground and surrounding area were beautiful, but unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, we were treated poorly. It was especially disheartening, as this was our first visit and we were genuinely looking forward to the experience. Sadly, the hosts were rude, unprofessional, and displayed behavior that came across as blatantly racist.

This place is a piece of heaven on earth. Everywhere you look you’re surrounded by gorgeous scenery. There are deer and moose, fishing in the stream and so much more. We actually slept in hammocks that hung between the trees. I would definitely recommend doing that! Such a fun experience. It’s pitch black at night and the stars are out of this world (literally 😊). I can’t recommend this campground enough. Just know, it’s first come first serve. There are bathrooms onsite (holes in the ground) and fresh water on spicket.

Great campsite. You can make reservations or see what's available when you arrive. There are several along the road. Outhouses are clean and well stocked. But always bring TP just in case.

This place was amazing as far as the views. The campground is clean and very well kept and best of all right beside a beautiful river. . But the road!!! It's a tough road, some gravel, some fist size rocks and mostly mud.

Hosts John and Kris are exceptional people, true HOSTS in every sense on the word, and Gary too, at the actual hot springs pool! I love going to this place on my four days off each week, during the summer months
