About Green River Lakes Campground

Campground in Wyoming.

Nestled in the stunning mountain landscape of western Wyoming, Green River Lakes Campground offers RV travelers an authentic escape into pristine wilderness. This public campground serves as a gateway to some of the most breathtaking scenery in the state, where towering peaks meet crystal-clear alpine waters and dense forest surrounds every campsite.

The campground's location in the Upper Green River Valley puts you at the heart of outdoor adventure country. The dramatic Squaw Peak looms in the distance, creating a stunning backdrop that changes character throughout the day as sunlight dances across its slopes. The area is characterized by its genuine mountain atmosphere, where fresh alpine air and the sound of rushing water become your constant companions. This is the kind of place where you can truly disconnect from the bustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature.

What makes this destination particularly special is its accessibility to some of Wyoming's most celebrated outdoor experiences. The surrounding national forest lands offer endless exploration opportunities, from leisurely nature walks to more ambitious hiking adventures. Anglers will find the Green River itself and nearby lakes teeming with trout, making this an ideal base for fishing expeditions. The pristine waters are perfect for those who want to spend their days casting lines or simply enjoying the meditative quality of waterside relaxation.

The campground sits at elevation, which means cooler temperatures even during summer months, providing relief from the heat of lower elevations. This elevation also delivers some of the clearest night skies you'll experience, making for spectacular stargazing once the sun sets. The changing seasons paint the landscape in different hues throughout the year, from wildflower-dotted meadows in summer to the dramatic contrasts of fall.

This location appeals to a wide range of RV enthusiasts. Nature photographers will find endless subjects. Outdoor enthusiasts seeking solitude will appreciate the quieter, more remote atmosphere. Families wanting to introduce children to mountain camping will find the setting both inspiring and manageable. Whether you're seeking a peaceful retreat, an adventure basecamp, or simply a chance to experience Wyoming's magnificent backcountry, Green River Lakes Campground delivers an authentic mountain camping experience that keeps visitors returning year after year.

Beautiful campground with a lot of privacy for tent sites. Reasonably quiet. About an hour of dirt road to get there which gets pretty bad in some spots. Was there on a Thursday in August and it was half empty! Water on site, no showers, vault toilets (very clean)

Such a beautiful place! Make sure you have a high clearance vehicle. There is a rough dirt road for about 15-20 miles. I saw cars on this road and that's not a great idea. Just a heads up

Very majestic scenery and remote campground. Grounds are nice for how remote they are. This campground is very remote and the road leading to it was rocky and heavily washboarded for 18 miles. Awesome campground, albeit the road in is a bit tricky if you don't have a decent vehicle. I've done it in low clearance 2wd and high clearance 4wd and the difference is 20min drive vs 1:20 drive. Campsites are all furnished with bear boxes, picnic tables, and fire rings. There are water spigots and bathrooms placed throughout the campsite loops.

One of the most beautiful places on earth. Best visit ever. Saw the total eclipse from here. Plenty of places to hike, camp and fish. The forest service did such a great job helping people with the event that day 8/21/2017.
