About NARROWS CAMPGROUND

Federal campground in Wyoming.

Nestled in the heart of Wyoming's stunning natural landscape, Narrows Campground offers RV enthusiasts an authentic forest camping experience away from the hustle and bustle of commercial parks. This National Forest campground provides a genuine connection to the outdoors, surrounded by towering pines and the peaceful sounds of nature that make RV camping truly memorable.

The campground's location places you in close proximity to some of Wyoming's most treasured natural attractions and outdoor recreation opportunities. The surrounding National Forest land offers endless possibilities for exploration, whether you're interested in hiking scenic trails, fishing in pristine mountain streams, or simply enjoying peaceful walks through the wilderness. The area's elevation and mountain setting create a refreshing escape during summer months, with cooler temperatures and crisp mountain air that provide relief from heat-heavy lowland camping.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the opportunities are exceptional. Hikers will find well-maintained trails ranging from easy nature walks to more challenging mountain routes. Anglers appreciate the excellent fishing prospects in nearby waters, where you can spend peaceful hours pursuing trout and other mountain fish species. Wildlife viewing is another popular activity, with opportunities to observe elk, deer, and various bird species in their natural habitat. The area's natural beauty is particularly striking during fall months when aspen groves display brilliant golden colors against the green evergreens.

The National Forest setting means you'll experience a more rustic, back-to-basics camping atmosphere compared to developed RV parks. This appeals strongly to campers who value authenticity and natural surroundings over extensive amenities. It's an ideal destination for families seeking to introduce children to outdoor recreation, retirees wanting peaceful forest camping, and seasoned RV travelers who appreciate the charm of National Forest facilities.

The campground's strong 4.6 out of 5-star rating from numerous visitors reflects its popularity and the quality experience it consistently delivers. Visitors consistently praise the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere, making it a trusted choice for those planning Wyoming camping adventures.

We had the best time here. Arrived on a Sunday morning in July and had to wait a couple hours for an available spot but well worth the wait. We brought our canoe and we took it down to the lakes edge. It was not easy but not too hard even though it was a ways down. Campsites were spaced well apart and the views of the lake amazing. We also did some swimming, quite refreshing. There were quite a few flies around after 10am til just before sunset so bring spray and possibly a headnet. Paddling the twin lakes was amazing. Eagles and Deer were plentiful along the shorelines. Also the Trout were biting whenever we tried fishing!

This is one of my favorite primitive camp grounds. No water ( need to fill up in Pinedale or haul the entire way ) or electricity. Pit toilets not cleaned regularly due to lack of camp host. The forest service comes from Pinedale to clean once a week. Also no dump station so when leaving the closest one is in Pinedale. Camp spaces are large and have a fire pit with picnic table. Camp spaces are large and have a fire pit with picnic table. Bear boxes at each camp for coolers. Never leave out food. No garbage dumpster so pack in and out. Quiet hours 10pm - 7am so plan generator use. Lake is small but flat bottom boats can still launch at dock. Narrows are treacherous with large rocks appearing due to low water level. Camp grounds gets busy Thursday - Sunday but mid week only 4 of 17 sites were occupied. Only 4 sites can be reserved so plan ahead. We get reservations in Feb. for July.

Camping here was a blast. They have awesome beaches around the giant lake. Water is clear and beautiful. You can catch some cows roaming around they are cute. Great place to hike around, and the campsites are a decent size. This is our second year back to the narrows and we plan on going again!
