About Flat Creek RV Park & Cabins

Campground in Wyoming.

Nestled in the scenic Star Valley of southwestern Wyoming, Flat Creek RV Park & Cabins offers the perfect basecamp for exploring one of the region's most beautiful and underrated destinations. Thayne sits at the heart of a landscape characterized by rolling mountains, pristine waterways, and wide-open spaces that embody the true spirit of the American West. This location provides an ideal balance for RV travelers seeking both adventure and relaxation, whether you're passing through or planning an extended stay.

The Star Valley area is renowned among outdoor enthusiasts for its exceptional fishing opportunities. Flat Creek itself, which runs through the region, is a beloved destination for both fly fishing and traditional angling, attracting visitors throughout the year who come to test their skills in its cold, clear waters. Beyond fishing, the valley offers excellent hiking trails that wind through pine forests and alpine meadows, with views that stretch across multiple mountain ranges. Wildlife viewing is particularly rewarding here, with opportunities to spot mule deer, elk, and a variety of bird species depending on the season.

For those interested in local culture and history, the Star Valley has a rich heritage rooted in ranching and small-town Wyoming character. The community maintains a genuine, welcoming atmosphere that reflects generations of frontier spirit. The nearby town of Afton, just a short drive away, features charming local shops, restaurants, and the famous Afton Arch, an iconic roadside landmark worth a photograph.

The location also serves as an excellent jumping-off point for exploring Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole, which are within reasonable driving distance for day trips. Families appreciate the slower pace and safe environment that Thayne provides, making it particularly suitable for travelers with children who want to experience authentic small-town Wyoming without the crowds of more touristy areas. Fall colors in the valley are spectacular, while spring brings wildflowers and renewal to the landscape. Whether you're an angler, hiker, wildlife enthusiast, or simply someone seeking tranquility in stunning surroundings, Flat Creek RV Park & Cabins provides a comfortable home base for discovering why the Star Valley remains a cherished destination among those who know it best.

The spot we had was level and groomed. We had a spot right on the creek. Lady at check in was extremely nice. Small park but has full hook ups, laundry and bathrooms. We felt it was a bit pricey but we didn’t ask before making reservations, we also didn’t check prices at other parks as well.

Parking on level grass, needs çutting & trimming. The 30amp service at my spot was erratic, so I used the 50 amp service with a pigtail reducer with no problem. Nice people, great wi-fi, convenient to Jackson Hole (50 miles)

Stayed one week here. Found them on iOverlander. Called late on a Thursday and the phone was answered. Got me in and let me pay the next morning. Paid a discounted rate for 1 week. Laundry (quarters needed). Men's and women's restroom. Right up next to Flat Creek.
