About Star Valley Ranch RV Park

Campground in Wyoming.

Nestled in the scenic Star Valley of western Wyoming, Star Valley Ranch RV Park offers a peaceful retreat for travelers seeking authentic mountain hospitality and natural beauty. Located in Thayne, this RV park serves as an ideal base for exploring one of Wyoming's most picturesque valleys, where rolling meadows meet towering peaks and the pace of life slows down considerably.

The Star Valley region is known for its stunning natural landscapes and outdoor recreation opportunities. The valley sits at a comfortable elevation that provides crisp, clean mountain air and dramatic seasonal changes. Spring brings wildflower blooms across the meadows, summer offers warm days perfect for exploring nearby trails and attractions, fall displays brilliant aspen colors, and winter transforms the landscape into a peaceful snow-covered haven for those who embrace colder weather camping.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the area provides excellent access to fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The nearby Salt River offers opportunities for anglers, while numerous trails in the surrounding mountains cater to hikers of various skill levels. Birdwatchers and nature photographers will find the valley's diverse ecosystems particularly rewarding. The relatively uncrowded nature of this region compared to more famous Wyoming destinations means you can experience the natural beauty without overwhelming crowds.

Thayne and the broader Star Valley community maintain a genuine small-town character. Local establishments provide authentic dining and shopping experiences where you can connect with friendly residents and learn about valley history and culture. The area appeals to travelers who appreciate rural charm, outdoor recreation, and the chance to experience Wyoming's ranching heritage firsthand.

This location works particularly well for those looking to escape busier tourist areas, families wanting a safe and relaxed camping environment, retirees seeking peaceful mountain scenery, and anyone interested in experiencing authentic Western mountain valley life. Whether you're planning an extended stay or a brief stopover on a larger road trip, Star Valley Ranch RV Park provides a welcoming base for discovering the quiet beauty of southwestern Wyoming.

The mattress in the big cabin is horrible. There is no cushion at all. If you sit on the edge of the bed, you feel like it sinks down to the box spring. It was like that 2 years ago when we stayed in the cabin. Otherwise, it's a great place to visit and get away. We come up every year and love it.

We had high hopes for this campground, but unfortunately it fell short. The gravel sites are extremely close together, awkwardly positioning you just five feet from your neighbor’s door. What really took away from the experience were a few full-time residents who were less than friendly—yelling at us over an occasional bark from our dog. We’re thoughtful campers and wanted to love this place, but between the cramped layout, all gravel, limited amenities, and unfriendly atmosphere, it just didn’t feel welcoming. We hope to go back to Star Valley but most likely will not stay here..

Had 2 separate interactions with the manager and on both occasions she was extremely rude. Made us feel very unwelcome. The place is very nice, but the manager needs to develop some people skills.

I tent camped here on a bike tour. The price was good at $16 and I had access to showers, laundry machines, and wifi.
